Quality is now questionable. Very unhappy!
I was so excited to receive this for waterhog mat for our new home. I ordered the dark brown 3 x 5 at a special price Like New through the warehouse. We have not moved in yet but I bought the rug and have had it by the door. We have been in our new home only to clean before we move in. It has been in use (lightly) for only weeks! Last night I just noticed the edge on one side is stretching out and is a tripping hazard and the covering over the rubber is exposed on top -worn off or came off to expose black underneath! What on earth? This mat originally appeared heavy and quality. I have had other mats in other houses last years! One Pro-Unlike others I like the deep grooves and use my vacuum hose to easily suck things up. I liked everything about the rug until I saw it is NOT holding up under extremely light use i.e. We do not even live in our new home yet and it is falling apart the little bit we have walked in and out! BIG DISGUSTED SIGH HERE. Waterhog mats are supposed to last years! Now I fear the other much larger mat I bought will not last. I paid a lot more for the bigger one. I used to love and trust waterhog mats by Andersen. It is past the return window. Lately I have had poor luck. This was not worth it even on sale! Maybe at a fraction of the cost of the sale price. Maybe I got a defective one from the warehouse?

Elegance Simple: Anderson 221 Waterhog Polypropylene Fiber Entrance Mat -> Photos <- [The Anderson Company]
This mat is simple elegance. Not fancy elegance. Simple. This is what I want. The mat is22-1/2 inches wide and 36 inches long. The back side is black and has small blunt nubsabout 1/8 inch apart from the others. Those little nubs appear to keep the mat from slipsliding around. It stays where it is placed on the wood floor. I do not have carpets inmy home so am unsure if they will stay anchored.I purchased the Dark Brown 'Diamond'Anderson 221 Waterhog mat.It appears well made, does not reek of any 'poly' smell (even right out of the box) andflattens within a minute when rolled out on the floor. The mat top has grooves that areabout 1/4 inch deep to catch ice and snow from your boots. I am not sure what (orwhere) the 'designer fabric border' is on this mat. It is simply made of what the rest ofthe mat is made out of...somebody got mighty creative in the marketing department.Maybe it is an option at another outlet. All the photos I've seen are with plain borders.I like this mat and will buy another based on its performance already. We have had threewinter snow storms since I bought this mat and it is big enough, at the back door, tohelp keep the ice and snow right there. I also use the mat to temporarily store thosesnow boots until they have dried off. The "Water Dam" seems to do its job.The mat does seem to dry quickly as is advertised. Also, we use sand and salt and therehas not been any degradation of the mat. So far. The fabric has not crushed down at alland this entrance is used the most in the winter. It has weathered traffic, as well as theice and snow, very well.I have to say for the price point this is a very good sized mat with deep channels and hasbeen put through its paces in the last two weeks of winter storms. I will give this mat 5stars because it been effective at keeping snow, ice, and water from being tracked intomy home and not spilling over onto the floor.-------------------------------------------------------------------------NOTE: 05/2015; This mat is still going strong. No breaking down, cracking, sliding, orleaking. Definitely would still recommend this mat.UPDATE: 09/2018; This mat is a wonder of durability. After 4 New England winters itstill stays in place, is not falling apart and still holds the water in the channels. I love thismat.

Ruined my floor!
I bought this rug 6 months ago in January and placed it in front of my sliding glass door. I live in WA state, where we don't get a whole lot of sun or hot weather, and hardly any in the past 6 months. Imagine my surprise when I picked it up and saw the rubber underneath had completely discolored my floor! On one spot the linoleum is just gone. I scrubbed and scrubbed the left side and made little progress in getting it to come off. I don't know what I'm going to do - our floors are just a couple of years old, and are ruined. I'm very upset with this product and will never purchase another.

Be aware: backing is rough and designed to go on carpeting, not solid floor.
The red/black version is very attractive and seems to track dirt well. I have not had it long enough to judge its water-absorbing quality. I am unhappy with one feature however: this rug comes with a rough backing so it is designed to go over carpeting. I did not realize that if you order it from waterhog, you have an option of a rough backing or smooth backing for placement on a solid surface. I am concerned that this rug will damage my hardwood floors. I did not realize that waterhog sells two versions until today, slightly more than a month after delivery, so it's too late to return this item. If you want a smooth backing, don't order this from amazon. The description on the amazon web site neglects to mention this.

love this rug
Really great rugs. We have dark wood floors and these blend beautifully. No slip and vacuum glides right over. They are great quality.

Disappointing in its dimensions.
This mat is advertised as being 3x2 feet. It is, in fact, short of that and is 35 inches by 23 inches, an inch short in each dimension. This is very disappointing and I wish the company had given the actual dimensions in its description. I was looking for a mat to cover a 36 inch by 24 inch damaged section of my kitchen floor. This mat just misses the mark and doesn't do the job for which it was purchased. It's a high quality mat, so I will use it in another area.

Best Entry Rug for Wet Weather, Pets and Kids - Worth the Investment
Quit buying a new entry rug every season from Walmart for like $15 that are crap. Buy one of these and it will last a long time and look way nicer. It's made of the same stuff they make the mats out of for businesses, so they perform well, but have enough of a design that they look good in a high traffic entryway. It helps immensely in bad weather with kids and pets. Highly, highly recommend. And Amazon had the best prices by far.

Beautiful blue
Beautiful blue, seems well made, looks great. I took picts to help u see it BLENDS well with my house color, obviously not an exact match. The color swatches laying on the rug are sherwin williams with color# in next pict. The lighter swatch is exact same paint seen on the house (looks lighter due to lighting). House is a blue/gray with hint of green and the rug blends well.

Website dimensions are inaccurate, but the mat is high quality and performs well
In terms of performance, these mats are great. We ended up going with the medium grey colour, and the rug does a fantastic job of both staying in place and trapping needles, mud, etc. that my kids track in the door. However, in order to keep the mats we ultimately had to cut them, because the dimensions described online are off by about 4 inches, and in our small space, that meant the large mat was 3 inches too wide. If you go to the Waterhog website, they do note that sizing is approximate, but it would be useful if Amazon indicated that in their ad. As it is, we had to go through a process of ordering a second, smaller mat, which also turned out to be sized incorrectly, and so after waiting for that one, we ended up sending both back. BUT, but quality, and especially the 'stay-in-place-ability' of these mats made us decide to risk cutting the edge to make it fit. We ordered a second set (by then we'd decided that we wanted a small one for our second door) and so far we haven't found the cut edge has caused a problem with mud or water escaping the area of the mat. However, the real test will come with first heavy snow fall.In any case, Amazon did, to their credit, pay for all the shipping costs, including an overnight ship so we could try the smaller mat right away. It was frustrating to get a second mat that yet again didn't fit correctly, but at least we didn't have to wait a week to test it.As for colour, the Navy was a beautiful shade. Unfortunately, it just had a little bit of a green undertone that clashed with our paint, so even though we liked the colour, we decided to get grey instead. The the medium grey is a nice, neutral shade that's not too dark or dingy, and it washes up well.Overall I'm happy.

Superb Quality
I now own five of these mats. They are superb quality. My cat unfortunately enjoys scratching them, but they are so durable she hasnt left one fiber pulled and I have had two for over a year now. You can vacuum over these and they dont get sucked up into the vacuum. No loose threads or fibers. They soak up wetness from boots and shoes and they dont show stains. I will no longer "save money" on cheaper mats that last two months and then are garbage. Recommended.

Andersen 221 Floor Mat
This is a great door mat. I purchased the gray and it's a true gray. So happy I found this on Amazon at the price I paid. I searched the entire internet and it was the lowest price I could find. The mat does exactly what it says it does. Great at trapping dirt and water. I just shake it outside and put it back.

Feedback on the Anderson 221 Waterhog Mat
Very pleased with this purchase in general. However, measurements are not as given on-line.I ordered a 6' x 4' mat and dimensions are smaller than that by about 3-4 inches on each side.Have never had any problems with purchases from Amazon. I find they provide excellent delivery & customer servicein every respect. This concern is naturally the fault of the manufacturer

Awesome
Bought it for the entrance coming in from the hot tub. We have hardwood floors and other Floor Mats were just getting saturated and soggy. This mat is amazing. Holds all the snow and water, doesn’t leak any moisture on to the hardwood. Dries out nicely during the day. Definitely thinking about changing all my entrance mats over.
