I have had serious problems with this drive!
I received this drive pretty quickly, but I have had serious gripes with it. Firstly my laptop would not recognize it, and secondly when it finally did, file transfers were horrendously slow! I had never bought a drive from Bipra before, I've always used WD passport drives, and needless to say I've gone back to using WD drives. I just got a 2TB from WD recently and I have no problems whatsoever. The Bipra does work, but it's so much slower to transfer files, and a general disappointment for me. I would not recommend this drive! EDIT: Having had time to do a Benchmark on it, the health state of the drive is critical, It says the drive has been on for 273 hours, it never transfers anything above 9 Mb/s. I have reformatted and tried different tools to no avail. It seems the case it came in was cracked, since I've never moved it since arrival it must have been cracked before I got it, whether it was the mail or from factory I'm unsure. The 2.5 drive I received is a pretty basic WD caviar blue with 5400 rpm, which is now failing. I would not recommend it at all not even to my worst enemy!! Stay clear of this product!!

Useful 500gb backup drive
Plug and play so easy to use. I bought to use with file history and to have permanently connected but this does not work as windows 10 will not start with this drive attached. Still useful to copy files to.

Faulty
Bought this to replace a smaller disk on a games console. It worked fine for a few hours - just long enough for me to move all my games onto it - then it crashed and started making funny noises. Tried a different cable and different USB ports, but to no avail. Returned to Amazon for a refund. I've decided to buy a known brand disk for a few ££ more next time!

I picked this drive primarily because it still uses the proven mini USB connector that has been in use for 15+ years or so now. I read a number of reviews of the USB 3 drives and saw enough complaints of broken connectors to want to avoid them. The miniature version of the USB 3 connector does look flimsy and unreliable to me. I am using this drive for backup and restore. The read speed is good enough for me at 30-35 MB/s. I also liked that the drive did not come with extra software, features, cloud services, etc. I just wanted a drive I could backup my files to. Of course, any drive by any manufacturer could suddenly die without warning, so always make multiple backups on different drives of your most important files ;-)

Pros: Works flawlessly for storing data. 500 gigs is a nice size for the price. No extra power adapter (given your USB port can provide enough) Looks really nice and simple Cons: USB 2.0 is slow in comparison to more modern USB 3.0+ drives. Do not expect data transfers to be fast. Depending on your use case, this might not matter to you. It doesn't for me. Some USB ports don't provide enough juice, so you'll need to add a USB power brick to the second connector dangling off of the end of it. I set my Wii up so I could dump my game collection to a hard drive using USBLoader GX. Now I can put my games in storage where the kids can't scratch them, and enjoy any game I want without getting off the couch! The Wii only has USB2.0 ports, so the speed of the drive is not an issue. The USB port on the Wii has enough juice to spin this drive just fine, so no extra power adapter.

The drives works great. The cable that came with it, however, is intermittently faulty. I had another cable that I could swap with it so that I could’ve get it to run consistently. I was able to reformat the floriferous to NTFS so that I can use it as a storage device on my Raspberry Pi cluster - nice bonus!

These drives are the absolute best way to go for WiiU homebrewing. If you know what that is then you'll understand what I mean. The capacity as of date has facilitated 117 ISOs with over half the drive space remaining. 10/10 and 5 stars. Seller shipped very quickly and packaging was far above average. I purchased a 250GB USB 2.0 drive as well. Will purchase one more as these are becoming very rare.
