DT830B 20-Range Pocket digital multimeter with AC DC Voltage,Handyman's Must-Black

It's not the most accurate multimeter but based on what I bought it for it's ok. Had to re-solder the red probe head, came apart with very little effort, hopefully it's just the one I got with that issue. As the saying goes though, you get what you pay for. I'll invest in something nicer later on but can get by with this for now.

What's more important than a reliable product is great customer support.First, I couldn't afford an expensive multimeter, but I did my research and for $6.25 I found one that had great reviews and I knew it would do what I needed it to do.When it arrived it didn't work. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. The meter seemed to be turning on and displaying correctly, but it didn't pass the basic ohm test. Long story short, I knew the problem was that one of the two leads was broken. Using a paperclip, I determined it was the red lead which was broken.After not finding any way to report this partially broken product on Amazon's website, I got frustrated and called Amazon. After explaining that I'd just like to be mailed a new lead the customer service rep. connected the call in a three-way with the distributor Electronnix and he kindly said he'd mail me new leads; they arrive by mail within a week.These new leads were higher end. They have a thicker gauge wire, an inch longer, and have caps on their tips. I was excited and right away started testing all my batteries. What? I'm a photographer and run through batteries constantly. It's not the only reason I needed a multimeter.Once I'd gotten off the phone and knew I had replacement leads arriving, so I decided to find out where the break was in the original red lead. It was in the base that plugs into the meter. Using some metal I clipped off a paperclip, I used electrical tape to fix it; what can I say, I'm a tinkerer.In conclusion, Electronnix did right by me with outstanding customer support for an inexpensive product. However, they obviously didn't test their leads before shipping. Amazon should have a way to accomplish this on their website, but they don't. Their customer support over the phone was great, though. I think this is an outstanding multimeter.Update: I've noticed that the 3rd photo shows a 9V battery compartment door that doesn't exist in the model delivered. To gain access to the battery you must remove two screws. I did notice once inside a replaceable fuse.

Great product at a very cheap price. Every function works and has nothing you don't need for basic electronic builds and checks.

Perfect for what I use it for... Toss in the toolbox and have it on hand... Great for simple electrical on the car, motorcycle or house.... You want super precision? Buy a Fluke....... want something you can use for simple stuff and if you break it, it won't break the bank? Spend more money on gas to go to Harbor Freight or sit in comfort at home and have it mailed to you? :)I give this 5 Stars ..... .both for price and saving me driving time !

does small dc current amperage. just what i needed.
