This scanner is an amazing and very productive machine. I use it every week to digitize documents and recycle the paper. The quality of the scans at 600 PPI is great and the Adobe text recognition software (OCR) produces excellent results due to the high quality of the scans. I recommend to set the scanner to automatically recognize black&white or color pages, page sizes and to skip blank pages. If you reduce the settings to 400 PPI, it will work faster and the scanned files will be smaller. Adobe Acrobat is the PDF software that I use and it usually reduces the size of the scanned file between two and ten times by converting it to a PDF file that can be read with Adobe Acrobat X or later but not with earlier versions. The free Acrobat Reader can also read these reduced files as long as you use the latest versions. This scanner helped me save a few trees and recycle hundreds of pounds of paper and I highly recommend it.

We purchase two of these "NEW" scanners in February. One arrived looking really yellowed as if it had been sitting out of the box for a number of years, much like old office equipment from the 90's. The other one hasn't been able to scan one single page from day one. We have tried everything including rejuvenating roller conditioner. It's so disappointing since we rely on these scanners throughout our company and have multiple sites in use. I am not sure that we actually got NEW ones or REFURBED ones that the seller presented and sold as new. :-( We missed our return window so now we are just out over $1,000. :-(

I settled on this machine because of most of its features. It's really fast and very quiet. But if you're running Windows, there are a few things to note. First, use CapturePerfect and run the unit from the computer. Ignore the other freebie software, they're terrible to try and learn or use. Second, in the scanner settings, under "Feeding", UNCHECK double feed detection. If you have post-it notes attached to your documents, this scanner will treat them like double feed and will stop the scan. You have to open the machine, reset the paper, reset the program, and start again from where it left off. It would be faster to fix a real double feed than it would to deal with endless choke-ups. Third, when you turn the scanner on and load something to scan, the software (CapturePerfect) will fail to run every time. The first attempt after the machine has been off will always be an error message. The second identical attempt will work just fine. Next, when the document is done scanning, the only way to go back and look at the pages is to click the 'previous page' icon. The designers decided not to activate PgUp and PgDn or the slider bar so you could easily look through the results. Very stupid and inconvenient. Finally, if any of the documents has any folds, like a 3-way fold from a mailed letter, the chances are good it will re-fold and create a slowdown but the next pages will continue to scan right over top of it. You'll end up with a big scattered mess, pages out of sequence, etc.

I have been using Canon scanners for years. The Capture Perfect software is wonderful and really sets the Canon scanners apart from the competition like Fujitsu. Pros: Software is amazing, if purchased new, it also comes with a PDF program license and Kofax key. High quality scans Fast Lots of useful features like ultrasonic sensor preventing double feeds Cons: The tray at the bottom occasionally catches documents. - Solution, tape a piece of paper to keep the feeding tray "smooth" so documents wont snag where it extends. When overfilled, you have to jiggle the papers to get them to feed. -Solution, don't overfill the feeding tray. The software allows continuous scanning so there is no need to over stuff the feeding tray.

I have purchased quite a few of these scanners for the company that I work for and they are little work horses. The price is right on them and the bonus with these is the Kofax software that comes bundled with the purchase. A true bargain!!!

Struggling to connect to my laptop. Not functional.

This states that it comes with Kofax Elite and after reading reviews people said they received the upgrade key. I never received the upgrade key, so only comes with Kofax Elite Basic. You can download that and to charge for the increase in price is a rip-off. If you need Kofax Elite don't purchase!

Works really good. The only complaint I have is that I wish it connected wirelessly.
