Great for lovers of the TV series "Just Add Magic"
The girls have seen the tv / video series - all seasons and really got into it.When we told them there were books and BOOKS, in our opinion are always better because your imagination paints the scenes as you read, they asked their Mama for them and as grandparent ofcourse we ordered them for them. Our daughter-in-law said they devoured them.

Fantastic fun read for girls and moms alike
This book was so much fun for my 9 year old girl and all her friends. I purchased 12 books, my daughter gave them to her friends as gifts, and we started a book club for the young readers. We set a completion date and each girl read at her own pace, culminating with a BOOK CLUB PARTY at our home. We served LOVE BUG JUICE and other fun foods from the listed recipes in the book.Author Cindy Callaghan had a comprehensive discussion section on her website which assisted the mothers in guiding the book club discussion at the party. It got a group of little girls excited to read, and began to teach them the joy of discussing good books with their friends, sharing viewpoints and talking about character development.JUST ADD MAGIC was well - written and kept the girls excited to read each coming chapter. The characters are lively and interesting, keeping the reader engaged and eager to know what is going to happen to them next. The girls are now in the midst of reading LOST IN LONDON, and the 2nd book club party is set for Mid November.

An Interesting Addition to the 'Tween Literature Shelf
This is a well-written and engaging story about three seventh-grader girls who find a magic cookbook. It is a perfect book for fifth- and sixth-grade students. This book is also the basis of the Amazon TV series "Just Add Magic." If you like the book, then the Amazon series (which has had two seasons already) is a fun view. The series Amazon is very well-written and adds many plot lines and details not present in the Cindy Callaghan book.

Super cute book if you are fan of “Just Add Magic”
Really cute book, however this chapter book might be a little difficult for my 2nd grader, not only keeping her interest, but she would need assistance with reading it. In fairness my niece who is also in the 2nd grade, would have zero difficulty in reading it.

This is a great book. It is perfect for preteens
This is a great book. It is perfect for preteens. I bought it for my two nieces, ages 9 and 10 and we are reading it together. When a recipe is given, we go make the recipe together and laugh and talk about how magical it is.

my daughter loves it!!
My daughter is a huge fan of the show so when I saw this book I had to get it! She loves it!!! It's so much more elaborate, of course, and detailed than the book. She enjoys reading it and comparing it to the series, like the description of the girls are quite different and so forth. And I'm so happy I can get her off the computer or t.v and read more!! I will be buying this authors other books for sure!

Really enjoyed the book and ordered some more books for my ...
We watched the series first on Amazon and thought how cute would that be as a book series. Well lo and behold it was a book (wish it were a series) I bought the book for my 7 year old daughter and I ended up reading it as well. It has a similar theme as the TV series, but enough differences that it is not a spoiler. Really enjoyed the book and ordered some more books for my daughter by Callaghan

Skip the book and watch the show
Given the choice between a book and a movie or show, I nearly always prefer the book. The book is usually much richer and detailed, and isn't as constrained by what can be shown visually. In this case though, the show just does a much better job. The show moves faster, yet manages to pack in many more interesting details. The show is really, really well done. The book has a nice concept, but the writing is merely average.
