DELTA FAUCET RP1991 Stem Unit & Seats – 1600 Series, Chrome

Good price for genuine Delta parts. Easy to install, ( 5 minutes) and fixed the leak. Works great.The only thing negative I can say is this cartridge didn't come with new springs which I feel should be included with this cartridge kit.

I fortunately found this item while looking at reviews of another item I was going to [incorrectly] purchase. This is reasonably priced, OEM, and exactly what I needed for my Delta shower faucet. It's possible I only needed to replace the 'seats' and springs -- as both were damaged and 'worn' when I removed them... But, since I was taking all that apart, I just wanted to redo it all (including a new handle). I applied some plumbers grease to the seals on the stem and WOW this thing turns with 1 finger (whereas the old unit was inprecise and hard to turn). The only thing that's kind of a let down is that this unit does NOT come with the springs. Yes, it does come with new seats... but why not the springs? I bought RP4993 along with this just to get the springs. So, yep, I had left over seats... which I then used to replace the seats in my basement stationary tub!

My faucet started to leak, this looked like a good fit, it fits perfectly. No more leaks.

I have a NoScald Shower valve.Delta loses a star because they have confusing packaging. First, the don't label there product very well. My valve doesn't even have the word Delta on it anywhere, let alone a model number. Then, after you figure out the correct replacement valve stem number, the fun starts. The entire procedure has 6 parts. You can get by with less, but since you are there replacing the most expensive part (the stem) it probably makes sense to do the complete job (6 parts). They are 1) the stem; 2) and 3) the rubber "boots"; 4) and 5) the springs; 6 ) the grease. None of the kits, OEM or 3rd party, come with all the parts. The one from Delta comes with the stem and the boots, but not the springs. Delta also sells a set of boots and springs w/o the stem. The website for Delta had articles recommending just the stem and boots yet others suggested buying the stem kit AND the spring kit. No one had a kit containing the stem, boots springs and the grease. I decided to forgo the springs, even tho they were slightly rusted. I bought the Delta stem and boots kit and a tube of enough grease to lubricate hundreds of stems. In my case, for now, everything works fine. By the way. mount the springs so that the small end goes in the boot. The instructions forgot to tell you that.

We’re not plumbers; but with a little YouTube education, my handy Hubba was able to install this part and end our dripping faucet blues!!! Our tub faucet is a bit on the older side; so we were very grateful to find the correct Delta part. Thanks Amazon!!!

As I was in a very tight time schedule, this provider delivered this quicker than other suppliers. I paid a few bucks more for the part but I got the piece in time to make the repair. The part was exactly like the OEM and was of good quality (of course, time will tell). I only wished the package came with replacement springs.
