Get a Grip on GRIT!
I was first introduced to Dr. Stoltz back in 1997 when I read his first "Adversity Quotient" book. I use his concepts in my college classes. Now Paul has really moved deep into the 21st Century with "GRIT". If you liked the AQ series of books, you will love GRIT - it takes one to the next level in climbing the mountain of life. I highly recommend his book.

This is a great continuation of his work on the Adversity Quotient
This is a great continuation of his work on the Adversity Quotient. For people who have read the "defensive play book" of the adversity quotient and want to know how the "offensive playbook" works, this is great stuff. The adversity quotient gets you up off the mat after you've been knocked down, this one shows you how to keep swinging, and they are both really important business and life skills.

Common Sense Advice Wrapped in Superficial Jargon
If you're already well-versed in GRIT, and you are already familiar with the AQ, adversity quotient, then this book may be of value to you. However, if you are new to this jargon, all you will really find is more jargon than substance. Here is a typical paragraph:"OK, so now you get it. Chances are you “Grok” the basics of GRIT (G-R-I-T, Smart vs. Dumb, Good vs. Bad, Strong vs. Weak) plenty well enough to go on to the basics of how to Gauge yours. Nearly a million people worldwide have gained fresh, vital insights from our (PEAK’s) assessments. I trust you too will enjoy the rich benefits and perspective the GRIT Gauge can provide, as your next step."All it seems that happens in the book is a labeling of very common sense life coaching advice as some form of GRIT. I didn't find this approach helpful at all, and am very disappointed in the book that, for others, was worthy of 5 stars.

That was because it was a nice story of someone who already had 'grit
I was 86 pages into this book before I found anything that made sense. That was because it was a nice story of someone who already had 'grit.' Lots and lots and lots of repetitious terminology that said nothing. If you want to find out what builds character and how to have grit........you'll never find it here.
