Q: quite a few people complain about the odor. what's up with that?

It was a strong chemical-like odor that was different than "normal" new plastic smell. It was very unpleasant, but after spraying it with vinegar and hanging it outside on my porch for a good week, the odor finally dissipated enough to bring it inside. My roommate has it in a walk-in closet with the litter box and he can no longer smell the mat. That said, it has definitely helped with litter tracking but doesn't eliminate it.

Q: Has anyone used these with Pretty litter? If so, how well did it work?

I have not used with pretty litter. I've used with clay, pine, etc. and this does not help with any of those types. So I'd say it probably wouldn't be very helpful with pretty litter.

Q: Can i put this in the washing machine?

I wouldn't use the washing machine. I wash it off in the shower/bathtub with a disinfectant rinsing very well and stand it up to air dry. Or weather permitting, wash it off outside, use a disinfectant and rinse well, stand it up to drain and air dry.
