It works! But depending on the weather it can sound clear or muffled/staticky. The receiver base is high in a window and the transmitter is about 1.5 miles away with very little vegetation in between.

This device works great until it doesn’t. I’ve bought (2) units that have worked almost 2 years exactly and then stopped. I also had to regularly change the batteries about every two months which added to the already high cost. When the first unit stopped working I bought another assuming it was defective and we had come to really like our “long distance” doorbell. The second unit worked as expected and just quit just like our original ~ 2 years since purchase. This time I contacted Dakota alert and have gotten no response which brought me back to amazon to write my review and find a new company to work with.

I cannot begin to tell you how frustrated I am at this company and their terrible products. I have been trying all their different products for years, since i cant seem to find anyone else that has a long range driveway alert product. I stopped trying for a few years, and recently decided i'd give it one more shot. I figured, after all the complaints from myself and others for so many years, this company MUST have fixed all the flaws and MUST be selling a product that actually works now. I WAS WRONG. This company has not made a single attempt to improve their product in 5 years. Its the same crappy plastic box with a circuit board in it. That being said, i wouldnt even care if it actually worked! Just like so many others, it worked for a few weeks, and then starts putting out false alerts every 30 seconds, non stop. I change the batteries, i put it in a different spot, i try everything. It works for a day, then starts alerting again randomly. MADDENING. Amazon should stop selling this company's products. They are all junk.

I have had this installed for a few days, it has worked as intended, I love it. I have the transmitter about 250 feet away from the house. Seems to work exactly as it should I was shocked at the other reviews, should my experience change I will update my review but as of now it’s great

I second total junks review. I bought one of these years ago. Laid it out on the ground and appeared to be agreat deal. I had it professionally installed and buried. After about five to six months it quit never to work again. What a complete waste of a lot of money. These are not cheap to buy but they are Cheap Chinese Crap. Also the small carry around mobile receiver had horrible range and a wimpy high pitched tone none of us could ever hear.Save your money and stay away from Dakota Alert products. Their is NO excuse for selling such terrible merchandise at such inflated prices.(Thank God Amazon and the net gives us a place to tell others not to be fooled.)

My dad and brother both have this system and love it. No problems.
