For teachers not children?
It seems like it’s aimed more for teachers/educators as ideas for lessons. Some great ideas in there, but not suitable for a 7 year old to engage with - lack of pictures, instructions are simply written out, some artistic photography to illustrate. I was expecting step-by-steps with lots of pictures. I’m returning as not suitable for me - would work for a teacher!

~~ Encourage your child to learn physics the FUN way! ~~
Building and creating - two skills good engineers use every day. Whilst consisting of mostly simple experiments the activities in this book give the child a glimpse into what is possible with physics. They can take the skills learned and create their own, more advanced projects. For e.g. the Pizza Box Solar Oven could be the first step towards creating a more sustainable and larger solar oven. STEAM: Science * Technology * Engineering * Art * Math These projects truly are fun! Most of the supplies you will already have in your home but for those that you do not they are easily sourced. Whilst there are no step-by-step pictures, there is a picture/photo with each activity so you can see how it is supposed to look. IMPORTANT to note that this book is written for the American market. HOWEVER most of the items are universal. 50 paper cups are the same everywhere! SO whilst you might come across the odd item/measurement that might require converting to metric that is going to be VERY rare. Do you know when rubber bands were created? By whom? Find out on Page 67 with the Crafty Rubber Band Shooter. How about making your own Solar Water Distiller? Do you know what Milk Plastic is? It's on Page 84. 3 Parts: Think Like an Engineer * The Projects (largest section) * Putting it all Together Each project has a little background information, sometimes some history, the time to complete, difficulty level, materials needed, steps, hows and why, STEAM connection plus additional idea/step to add to your experiment. A glossary is provided at the end. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. That has not influenced my review. Thanks, Liz

Was not in the condition expected.
Last few pages were torn in the top corner. Not happy about that considering it was bought brand new. Other than that, a very nice book.

Incredibly stupid book
You can find all those "projects" in the internet for free.

A book with many practical small experiments. Some are a bit similar. This is good for kids around 5. For 6-year-old, some are a bit too simple, so not that interesting. But in general, a good and easy to manage guidance.

My rating is based on I bought this for one of our grand kids and when he opened it Christmas Eve he was very pleased about all the experiments he can do. He will definetly let me know if I am to change my rating.

Awesome Engineering Activities for Kids is a fantastic resource for sparking creativity and curiosity in young minds. My son absolutely loves diving into the variety of hands-on STEAM projects in this book. With over 50 activities, it offers endless hours of fun while encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and an understanding of engineering principles. The projects are well-organized, with clear instructions and illustrations that make it easy for kids to follow along. Many of the materials required are everyday household items, making the activities accessible and budget-friendly. From designing simple machines to building creative structures, the projects cater to a wide range of interests and skill levels. What stands out most is how the book balances fun with education. Each activity provides a brief explanation of the engineering concepts behind the project, which helps kids learn as they build. My son not only enjoys the hands-on experience but also gets excited about the “why” behind the designs. This book is perfect for kids who love exploring and creating, whether they’re working independently or alongside a parent or teacher. It’s a great way to introduce STEAM concepts in an engaging and memorable way.
