It doesn't sound like seagulls!!!
I've only been playing for a few weeks but in that time I've purchased several whistles. Since many are inexpensive I was interested in trying different types to see if one felt better to me. I was most happy (so far) with the playability of my brass Generation D so I decided to try out the Nickel version. It became my favorite immediately! I like the look of the Nickel more than the brass and it has a nice feel in your hands although I'm not sure if there is any real weight difference in the two. The best part was it seemed easier to play than any of my others; I was able to play the D without screeching and when I attempted high notes they actually sounded like notes and not like I was being attacked by seagulls!I actually feel like I will be able to play music and not just practice scales forever!I have heard that because of the way the whistles are made you can buy several of the same brand and have a few duds, so this may have been my lucky draw, but if my experience is any indication of this whistles character I hope you try it out.As far as the tone goes I'm afraid I'm a little too inexperienced still to offer an educated critique but it sounds nice to me and again, being able to play the notes well as soon as I got it out of the package was a nice surprise and a boost to my motivation! It did arrive in a mailing envelope and not a box but was in excellent condition.

WAAAY sharp.
I bought the nickel one because I want a slightly harsher sound for some tunes, like Old Joe Clark. As soon as it arrived I ran a few scales and it sounded odd. I put it to a Korg CA50 tuner. D hovered near D sharp, and G was definitely G#. I thought it could be fixed by the hot water trick, but that doesn’t work. I ha e some brass Generations I bought 40 or so years ago and they’re a little sharp, but nowhere near as bad as this. I’m going to try to return it, but I tore the box open.

The Classic Penny Whistle
Consisting of a plastic head and a metal tube with finger holes, there's not much to this item (and therefore little to go wrong). Item was in tune and easy to play. Very happy!

Not practical
It's tiny, difficult to play, and not particularly pleasing to the ear (at least not my ear). I have a Generation D whistle as well, and It's s a nice instrument, and I'm sure someone out there is happy with the G model, but I can't recommend it.

Squeaky
I'm new to the whistle and really have no musical aptitude. I bought 2 whistles and this was one of them. I really liked the first octave but just couldn't get much out of the 2nd. Just lots of squeaks. I bought this smaller high g so I could take it in my lunch box to practice. Its practically indestructible. I decided to just stick with the clarke sweet tone D

It's also unnecessary since the D whistle will play in G also
It's possible that the D whistle by Generation is playable but this G whistle is not. I thought i was getting the lower octave G and it was worth a trial of it for $18.00 to see if it would fill in for whistle keys until i could get a pro grade whistle in this key. But this tiny thing is unplayable. It's also unnecessary since the D whistle will play in G also. If you want to learn to play a whistle for fun, perhaps the standard D whistle would work, but don't bother with this G whistle. It's a novelty only.

Need small fingers
The reason I’m giving a low review is because of the size. My fingers collide when playing. For some people the smallness might be appreciated, in which instance I would say the quality is decent, it’s pretty highly pitched but for the money you can’t go wrong, if you have small fingers.

Awesome whistle
My girlfriend lives it. Took a few days longer to get here than Amazon projected, but that happens sometimes. Small high pitched whistle. Excellent sound and quality. Very shiny.

Not Good
I have had many Generation Whistles which have been very good. Unfortunately this is not one of them. This is my first E flat whistle and is virtually unplayable. Maybe I am just unlucky. The notes are not clear and sometimes get the fundamental and the octave at the same time-not good. I would be interested to know if anyone has an E flat Generation Whistle which sounds good?

Just a little whistle.
Does what it is required to do, but very well. On time, right price. Once I get my blowing right it will be great.

Excellent
I bought a D generation tin whistle and it arrived promptly and in great order. The generation whistles are the best type of whistle. By adjusting the mouthpiece, you can tune the whistle. This is important because often tin whistles play a bit sharp, especially on slow airs. So, it is very useful to be able to tune whistles amd the generation whistles can be adjusted.Billy Finn

No box
Love the Generation whistles but this was a let down as it came without a box or any kind of casing protection and sounds more untuned than any tin whistle I've ever had.
