The feather is an ancient symbol, with many different meanings to cultures around the world. The feather can represent flight, breath, soul and spirit. In Ancient Egypt, the feather was symbolic of the sky gods, and Ma'at, their goddess of Justice, would weigh the hearts of the newly departed against the weight of a feather to determine the soul's worthiness. In the Celtic culture, the feather also represented the sky gods and the Druids would dress in elaborate feathered robes during ceremonies in an effort to communicate with the gods. The Pueblo Native American tribes worshiped a feathered sun, which stood for the center of the cosmos and the center of existence. In Christianity, the feather represents virtues, and are usually in groups of three, symbolizing Charity, hope, and faith. Pendant length: 1.4" (36mm)
