Great Raw Diet Food
I wholeheartedly believe a raw diet is the best diet for dogs but found that it was very time consuming to prepare my dogs food myself and I constantly feared I was missing vital nutrients, vitamins or minerals. I purchased this food for convenience for the pet sitter when I went on vacation. My dogs loved it! I have now consistently been feeding it for several years now and my dogs are happy and at peak health.I find it best to figure out the calories your dog needs, they have an easy calculator, and weigh the food out rather than using a measuring cup. For my 70 pound, lazy dog, she gets 3.8 ounces of the chicken flavor in the morning and 4.2 ounces of the mackerel and lamb at night to meet her calorie needs. Weighing the food is best due to the way the food is made, you can have inconsistent sizes of food which will fill the cup differently. Some complain that this food is overpriced. Once you calculate your dog’s caloric needs, this food becomes more cost effective, especially compared to other high quality, pre-prepared, raw diet foods. It is also more convenient. Some complain that there are crumbles and powder in their bags. It is important to remember that this is an all natural food meaning there are no fillers such as starches. Starches are what make other foods firm and crunchy. So yes, you can expect some crumbles, sometimes more than others depending on the handling of the bags. However, the crumbles and powder are not wasted!! They are still high nutrient food. Don’t throw them away. My dogs happily licks them up from the bowl. This is another reason it’s best to weigh the food.My somewhat complaint. I’m not going to lie, the food kind of stinks, but it’s a raw diet so that is to be expected it’s just one of the downfalls. The chicken flavor isn’t bad, but the mackerel & lamb? Well, it’s fish and lamb so it shouldn’t be surprising. What is surprising, is that it doesn’t linger on my dogs breath. My complaint. They recently changed their packaging and I am not a fan. The bags used to have strong handles at the tops of the bags, they sealed back up easily and they had a perfect size scoop in them. Now there are no handles, no scoop, and sometimes I have to work the ziplock type seal.Hands down, will continue to feed and recommend this food!

Harley loves this
I top my dogs normal food with this, compared to the others the price is good and my dog loves it, I have ordered it 2x. Simple ingredients and lasts a while if used as a topping like I do

High Quality Dog Food - certainly not kibble!
My two fur buddies LOVE this dog food. I don't like the preservative; I wish they could figure something else out. But I bought their canned food, which they can't get enough of as well. I don't know any picky eaters, who won't eat this dog food. It's expensive, but I believe they produce superior dog food and their animals in New Zealand are raised healthier.

Expensive, but well worth it and Ziwi Peak's Customer Service is among the best out there.
I saw Ziwi Peak a few years ago at a local Pet Store, but avoided buying it due to the cost at the time which was much lower than it is now, in retrospect I didn't buy it because I wasn't really educated on the proper diet for Dogs, which is a common problem in this day and age, but with the Internet people are becoming more educated.Initially when my Dog was a puppy and into a few years of age, we stuck with Purina Puppy Chow and then tried several Pet Store brands some not so good and what's advertised on TV, big brand names and some obscure brands sold only online, all of which contained grains, carbs and veggies among a mix of meat proteins and God knows what else.A number of years ago after my Dog had some health issues for bladder infections, the Vet prescribed a food just for that reason, very expensive and after further education I saw the #1 ingredient was Corn, after feeding my Dog this for a month or so, I stopped. I took it upon myself to feed higher quality pet foods and the issue went away and never returned. I also got a new Vet. Dogs are carnivores based on their non-domesticated ancestors, sure they can eat some of it, but having it as their main diet or a high %, is not what nature intended for them.Over the years since, I tried several higher quality brands in an effort to curb some paw licking and chewing that a became frequent, Vet said there was a yeast infection and mentioned it could be food. I went to Grain Free, I tried many different brands, Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Nutrisca, Orijen, Acana and Fromm to name a few. I actually lost count of all the foods I tried, I removed Chicken from the diet thinking there was a Chicken Allergy, helped a little but paw licking and nibbling continued. Also my Dog had a yeast issues as I could still smell it very faintly. There were times when the food totally was a loss of interest and would not be finished at dinner time. I then switched to a grain free all fish diet, for a while, tried a couple other brands, Zignature being the last, but I had to stop due to the % Sodium.I then received word from the Vet that my Dog has early stages of congestive heart failure, which requires daily meds now to manage. I also, on my own, began to research and also blamed myself for the diet I was feeding. I read that diets low in Taurine and also diets that are Lamb & Rice based can cause deficiencies in Taurine. Along with this, it's imperative that dog's with CHF be given a low sodium diet, most dog foods on the market are loaded with crap on top of Salt, like why is it needed? Some sodium perhaps, but high % of it or just plain old "Salt" listed in the ingredients, is too much.So after blaming myself for the condition my Dog had, I went on a search to find a low sodium food that met my requirements, I tried a few, but most were still too high in Sodium % or did not even list it, after reaching out to them via e-mail I found out most were too high. I then found Ziwi Peak, and their website is very clear, shows the sodium and also added Taurine benefit which my Dog needs, I ordered a small bag and fed it mixed in for a week, noticed how my Dog devoured it and left the old kibble for last or didn't even want to finish it. This led to another bag and another, eventually I had switched over to Ziwi Peak 100%.It's been over a month now, my Dog looks forward to feeding time, devours the food and leaves nothing behind. Stool volume is way down, no more fillers or things that are only detrimental, just like nature intended. Also noticed a huge improvement in the breath department, along with no issues with poop time or loose stools.Skin is improving, nibbling and paw chewing is declining. All the noted benefits of the food is coming into fruition and I hope it continues. My Dog loves Ziwi Peak and also the Ziwi Peak treats. The cost is high, but when you weigh out the positives and vet visits you may avoid due to feeding it along with having a happy healthy Dog, it's a small price to pay. Also as noted by Ziwi Peak, the portion sizes are smaller than what's typical of foods containing loads of fillers and carbs, and believe it or not the recommended daily feeding size quite adequately satisfies my Dog's hunger and also the included measuring cup in each bag is a nice touch.I also have to commend Ziwi Peak's Customer Service, I received one bag that had a different smell than what I was use to, was concerned though there was nothing probably wrong with it, appears a tear or wasn't properly sealed. After contacting Ziwi Peak via e-mail, I got a response in a less than 1 hour from the Co-Founder of the company, who offered to send a replacement bag, when it arrived not only did they replace the bag, but they also included a free bag of Ziwi Peak Venison Treats which made my Dog very happy. So I would rate their Customer Service #1, which matches the quality of the food as well.
