I had been burning up the big box grates every year or two so ordered one of these in November 2016. This year 2022 I noticed that two of the rods in the middle of the grate had burned off. I contacted Custom firescreens and sent them a picture. They said the grate was under warranty and would make me a new one with longer legs and a little heavier bracing to prevent further damage, I had to pay $47 for shipping. There is no comparison between the quality of this product and their warranty and service. I would strongly recommend them.

This started at as exactly what we wanted. We purchased it in the fall of 2012. By the fall of 2015, it was the center was burned which created gaps front to back. We do have a large fireplace (obviously, due to the size of the grate), but per the specs, it should have lasted much, much longer. The 'Lifetime Grate' is misleading and untrue. I've been unable to get a response in 3 weeks.

I was a little perturbed when I read in the packaging that the lifetime warranty doesn't apply if ash is left on the piece. I burn 18 hours a day through the winter and while I clean my fireplace ashes ever other day, there is definitely going to be some ash and sap stains that remain. Still, I am impressed with the sturdy construction of the unit. The height is a little higher than ideal for me, but it is still very functional. I hope it lasts at least 3 years at the price paid.

This fireplace grate came quickly and was well-packaged. It is accurate to the description, 28 inches across in the front and 24 in the back, which fits my fireplace perfectly. There are 6 legs to it, so it is very stable, and it has excellent clearance off of the floor of the fireplace. That makes sweeping up ashes into the ash pit much easier than it was with my old grate. It is made of very thick bars, and I have confidence that this grate will truly last a lifetime. I would highly recommend this product.

I love to have a fire going on winter evenings. I've owned rather costly cast iron grates in the past, and with heavy use they inevitably develop cracks after a few years and in another couple of years start to fall apart. This grate ain't cheap, but you'll have it forever. The heavy-duty nature of this steel grate is apparent as you're taking it out of the box and placing it in the fireplace. The difference in quality between this grate and the ones you see in the big hardware chains is enormous. I'm very glad I spent the extra money.

Even though I live in Los Angeles it does get cold at night and I use my fireplace when appropriate. I love this grate-it is well made, and allows the air to circulate around the logs. It is far superior to my last grate, which lasted over 10 years.

It works ok, but it is really heavy. That's the good new and the bad news. Males it hard for me to move, but will last a long time.

We are very pleased with the wood burning grate. We have not yet used it but it appears to be heavy duty and we expect it to last for a long period of time.
