SnapSafe Lockbox definitely best quality for the $. Looks better, feels better, closes better w/no movement like with NanoVaults
This is a solid Lockbox. I have purchased previously 2 of the NanoVault 200 and was happy with them... I was very familiar with the brand and thought I was good. I then noticed that this one was a little bigger, or something, because it was about $3 more than the NanoVault but something caught my eye and sparked my interest... I am sooo extremely happy that I did. They all seem to be made about the same, and around the same size. If this one was bigger, it was only 1/2 in any direction, but I figured, 'oh well, I'm gonna move on it and see how it compares.' To start, aesthetically speaking, the box looking at it closed, just looks better to the eye, Maybe a more refined or finished look, maybe more symmetry as far as the shape and bends of the box, In the inside, they are both about the same, But the kicker for me that will have me coming back to this box was when I put my gun, a Sig P229 in a gun sock w.2 magazine into the box, the fit felt better than the NanoVault 200. Maybe that 1/2 made the difference, but they just didn't seem so snug or close to the sides and lock mechanism and I didn't have to angle the magazines like I do sometimes in the NanoVault. I then closed it and locked it. Niiiice. There was not a problem and it locked very easily. It took me a few minutes to realize what I like the most though. I have had the NanoVaults for about 4-6 months and when you pick them up or move them around, they always seem like the top is not snug and secure to the bottom. The top will pivot on the high spot of the gun inside and when it does this it doesn't allow for it to stay nice and tight feeling to the bottom. I tried moving the gun in different places and changing the direction that it lays in the box, nothing... However, with the SnapSafe Lockbox, no matter where I put the gun or where the high spots are, when handling it or moving it around, the top never slips away from the bottom. It keeps a secure snug fit and there is no rocking around. It definitely feels, looks and performs stronger than the NanoVaults and for the price, the $3 extra dollars is more than worth it. I will be purchasing the SnapSafe Lockbox next time and I have given up on the NanoVaults. As far as the cord is concerned... In my opinion they have all been the same, and they are all just deterrents... If someone was really wanting to steal your box, none of the cords in any of the boxes I have or have seen will stop somebody who is determined... But as a good deterrent it does just fine.

Measure your firearm!
Very nicely made. Stronger than I would have thought actually. Used this on a camping trip recently.Put a full sized 45 in it. along with a spare magazine. A little tight and I was worried the extra magazine would move around and rub some finish off the pistol. Didn't happen. Even though it was a bit cramped inside neither the pistol nor the magazine every moved. The stainless steel cable was plenty long enough to run through the front seat brackets with the safe laying on the rear floor mat. Lock was sturdy enough but the key was a little small. On my key chain with the rest of the keys made it awkward to use. Could see that being a problem if quick access is a priority. All and all a good purchase.

TSA won't have problems with this.
This is a superb product. It is a bit heavy so take that into account within your luggage. The best thing about this is the cable that fits nicely into a slot. You run the cable through a loop around a permanent object, put the gun or other stuff into it, and lock. This is not just for a gun. It would be great for jewelry, papers, money, etc. It is too bad that most luggage lack some sort of internal metal loop that would allow you to lock this box to while traveling.I was NOT impressed with the quality of the lock or the rough edged keys. The SnapSafe Lock people need to upgrade the lock quality. I took some spray lithium grease to it and with repeated opening and closing the lock "mellowed out". Even so, the lock fit is tight. Yes, it could be opened, but only with a metal drill. The quality of the metal is first rate. The whole point of something like this is to make it painful to get at what is inside. This will surely satisfy TSA (a box like this is in their movie). This box is far better than the plastic NRA box. Wrap the cable around the support under the passenger seat. The box will be unseen and very secure. Also, given the shootings of drivers with concealed carry, if stopped by the police for any reason tell them you have a fire arm in the car. Keep your hands out the window. I would also suggest you ask to get out of the car and let the officer find the box after you tell him/her where it is. NEVER lie to the police. Also, I suggest you get a typical employee bag holder and wear your CHL around your neck under your shirt or blouse. NEVER go for your wallet. NEVER have your hands out of sight of the officer. At least make it such that if you get shot your family can sue for millions. If you don't have a CHL I'd highly suggest you lock the gun under the passenger seat or store in a locked container in the trunk.Check with your states highway patrol or sheriffs office about how to carry guns in a car. I'm not the authority. Always keep the lock on your person. Keep the spare key at home. As a matter of personal safety, I do not carry ammo in the box even though we can.
