ScubaPro Frameless Gorilla Mask

This ScubaPro Mask was a gift to our son who cleans pools professionally (he is also a recreational diver) and he says this is the best mask he has ever had. As many reviews point out, they seem to fit a larger round face perfectly and likely are not for a smaller framed face. He followed one reviewers advice and the first few dives, while at home, he heated the rubber face frame of the mask with hot water (to make the rubber pliable) and then placed the mask onto his face to mold and shape it to his face. This worked well and the mask seldom leaks. He loves the fit and comfort but really likes the wide visibility the one piece glass mask provides. During the purchase, we were offered to purchase anti fog gel and he is glad we did. The mask performs best and doesn't fog when he is working hard under water when he has applied this anti fog gel. Cannot recall the name or brand sorry, but worth the investment to enhance the mask performance.

I like this mask a lot. It fits my face well, despite having having a large, bushy beard and mustache. To enhance the seal, I do trim my mustache a little bit below my nose. Very comfortable with a great field of vision. If properly treated before first use, (I use toothpaste), I have not had fogging issues when using baby shampoo as a defogger. I love SCUBAPRO diving equipment and this mask maintains the quality I have come to expect from SCUBAPRO.

So here's the story of my love/hate relationship with this mask. I've only owned one other mask and it was used so I never knew how much work it is to break in a new mask. The first time I tried on the mask, I immediately noticed how rigid the frame skirt was and instantly had a fear that this mask wouldn't create a good seal. The piece that touches the upper lip tends to bite the skin pretty hard especially with a regulator in your mouth. On my first dive with this mask, it leaked the entire dive as well as fogging constantly. I even pre-treated the mask rigorously with toothpaste but still fogged. My AOW instructor even attempted to safely burn the coating off with a lighter and it still fogged like crazy. On the next dive no fogging! but it leaked the whole time. The dive after that the leaking stopped! but still fogged. Finally the captain on one of our dives gave me a tip to leave the tooth paste on there overnight and this seemed to do the trick. It stopped fogging but was still leaking like crazy. Because I managed to get one good dive where it didn't leak, I drummed it up to the fact that It takes some work to break in this mask before it starts to perform better. My instructor gave me some advice to heat up the skirt in hot water and form it to your face. He did that to his mask and has had no leaks for the past 10 years. Going to try this and hope that it stops the leaking for good.

ScubaPro Frameless Gorilla Mask is touted for its silicone skirt to be worn by those with mustaches. I've got to say, I've been so accustomed to my three window Mask leaking, that I honestly wasn't sure this one would be any different. I was pleasantly surprised, and equally glad to be wrong. This thing is worth every penny!! It's a great Mask, and once you I tially wash the lens with toothpaste, apply some "spit", it's ready to perform! The deeper you go, the more it hugs your face and continues to be fog free! So, once that was established, I immediately wanted to see how easily the Mask would clear. That was a piece of cake! Top coners tipped, cleared like a dream! I'm incredibly impressed with this Mask! Thank you!! #ScubaPro

This is the only mask I could find that would fit my large head. The strap is comfortable and the view is wide and clear. The seal is great and the material is soft.

Silicone used is not smooth on face and leave deep markings. I have used several times during my dives (I’m a scuba instructor) and sometimes get fogged. I was expecting something excellent according to its price which is high.

Absolutely love this mask. Probably the best fitting, most comfortable mask I've ever used and I've been diving since 1965 so I've used a few over the years! Great visibility, no problem with fogging after an initial cleaning with toothpaste. Typical top notch Scuba Pro quality should last a lifetime. As with all masks you need to try before you buy to make sure its the one for you as all faces are different, but for me its a winner!

My previous mask pushed a lot underneath my nose and gave me serious mask squeeze. After swapping to the frameless gorilla mask I'm happy to be diving without issue. I'm a big guy with a bigger nose and everything fits in the nose pocket. Easy to clear ears and water. PROTIP: this mask was difficult to prep for diving. On my first dive it fogged like crazy; I thought using toothpaste twice was enough but sadly it wasn't. What DID work was the burn method. A few seconds with a lighter flame on the inside of the lens removed the film and made the mask fog-free dive after dive. Find a "How to" on YouTube and perform at your own risk.

Inutile, dopo aver speso infinità di soldi cercando di spendere poco, ho acquistato questa "Gorilla" perchè vedevo che tutte le guide la avevano (un motivo ci sarà) e infatti... bisogna scaldarla almeno quattro volte per evitare appannamento, ma la tenuta è imbattibile. Non so se ci sono taglie inferiori da donna, per uomo è il massimo.

Used several times on a recent trip to Egypt. Great old school design providing excellent vision. Ensure the glass is treated properly prior to use and stayed fog free. Nose cup felt a little tight but possibly because my nose is on the larger size. Otherwise very comfortable mask.
