Bamboo Bread Box, SUNCOM Large wooden Roll Top Bread Storage Bin for kitchen counter (Self-assembly)

<** Update 1/25/19 **>After leaving my origina 3 star review Suncom contacted me and said they would improve their manufacturing process to fix the slot and screw hole alignment problems I had. I am happy to report that I have just assembled the new version and indeed it went together much easier. Total assembly time was about 10 minutes without the struggles I had before. I have updated my stars to 4.<** original review **>This box was not easy to assemble.The screw hole and panel slot alignments are very bad, making it difficult to put together. Don't even think about using the tiny metal Allen wrench screwdriver they provide; you will have enough trouble with a good electric screwdriver. The final fit even after struggling is not great.I was also disappointed that the back panel and floor panel are not really bamboo but just manufactured pressboard with a plastic bamboo veneer that matched the color of the rest of the box only almost.The rolltop is just slats glued to a fabric back that is frayed at the edges where it was cut, but you mostly won't see it since it's inside the box.I wish I could have examined this box before I ordered it, I would have kept looking for something a little more upscale, but the final assembly looks ok, if you don't examine it too closely, so I guess I'll keep it.

I received the breadbox but one of the pieces was defective—i contacted Suncom and they shipped me out a replacement breadbox IMMEDIATELY...like within 2 days! (I only asked them for the particular part that was defective.) A lot of people have complained about assembly, and it’s true that it takes 3 hands! If you don’t have assistance, try leaving the panels out, and assemble one side and the thicker parts with grooves in them. Then slide the panels down the grooves from the end. Then use a bit of tape to hold everything in place while adding the tambor (the bendy piece) and the other end. The assembly isn’t difficult except trying to keep 3 or 4 pieces aligned while screwing the together. Anyway, I wanted to commend SUNCOM for their great customer service and recommend them as a reliable merchant!

First off, I got a lemon that passed QC. Basically the rolling door wouldn't open, and the pre-drilled holes weren't sunk deep enough. When I assemble the box, the screws cracked the wood, and I was using hand tools. Unacceptable. These are cautionary notes for anyone else who buys this box. Mistakes happen sometimes in manufacturing, and aren't a factor in my poor review of this product.The one-star rating is due to the design of the box. The way the door track is routed (a big U shape) caused the door to get in the way of anything stored in the box when opened. There also isn't much clearance inside of the box, especially if you make your own bread and the loaf rises a little too much. I really was not happy with this bread box and returned it for another.

I am currently in college, but I bought this cause my mom wanted something like this. I didn't realize it was an assembly required product, although it says it in the title. So that is my fault. However, my mom found the assembly process to be very difficult and even with my guidance over FaceTime, we spent over an hour trying to get it to fit together. We did get it, and she uses it now, but the assembly was tough. Also I feel like the wood looks kind of cheap and low quality. We have a pretty modern kitchen with black granite and white counters and she put this in the pantry because it just kind of ruined the overall look. You can put a decent amount of stuff inside, and I like the sliding door.

The first of these that I ordered was broken on arrival. Ok, not much you can do there. So I exchanged it for another one. The second one came and was undamaged. Great! I went to put it together the roll top would not work if the screws were tightened all the way. So I either could not use it but would have a sturdy box or I could use it but it was loose and wobbly. So I returned completely. Also it smelled strongly like Elmer's glue.

Wonderful for storage not just bread. Opened chips, crackers, cookies etc. it cleans up my counter space and keeps small items in one place.
