MotorcraftMercon SP XT-6-QSP transmission fluid case 12 quarts

The price for a case is good, especially prime shipped. Had sticker shock when observing the price of the ZF LG6 fluid at $25.XX per quart prime. Did the pan drop and replacement on 2009 135i with the ZF GA6HP19Z transmission, using the Mercon SP as my service fluid. The factory "lifetime" fluid should be called "Lease period" fluid to not mince words. Did this at 87k, being the first owner to perform the service. Transmission shifted well, but the fluid was in very poor condition. So a full service was needed. This case allowed for a refill after pan drop and one more drain and fill to improve my concentration of friction modifiers. So far trans is reacting well and no adverse effects shown. Saves a boat load when combined with the transmission pan and bolt kit found here on Amazon as well.

Even though Ford states that Mercon LV can be substituted for Mercon SP in 5R110W transmissions, I still choose to use the Mercon SP. It is a little tougher to find these days, but not that much more expensive than LV if you shop around.For years, Ford stated strictly to only use Mercon SP in these transmissions, and continued to state that after Mercon LV was originally released. Then, a few years ago, Ford then stated that it was OK to use LV in place of SP - but, the information is inconsistent even across the Ford literature and documentation. Based on all the inconsistency, I choose to stay with SP and why not, it is what originally came in the transmission - so why take a chance?The car companies do this all the time - they state very strongly to use a certain product and NO other product - then, when they develop a new product and discontinue the old one, suddenly the rules change and it is OK to use the one not built for the car. I personally think these "rules" are more based in economics than fact, and sometimes it was always OK to use other products, or it becomes OK because they don't make the original product anymore. When it comes to gear oils, transmission fluids, coolants, and other fluids, the facts from the car companies are inconsistent, with the same inconsistency (even worse) across the internet. There are so many opinions that run the gamut from polar opposite facts, and it is tough to find out what is really OK to use.Usually this dichotomy of facts means there are many choices, but the car companies complicate the matter by setting "strict" guidelines in areas where it is not required, and they just want to sell their own product.OK, off rant, but in this particular case, since Mercon SP came with the vehicle, and it is still available, I chose it.Thanks for reading.

The price was great,compared to someone tried to sale me one guart for $55. I used this in my 2005 lincoln navigator,the only transmission fluid recommended. Do not use anything else but mercon sp or you may have trouble,like others have stated in these transmissions.! Definitely 12 guarts came in the box.

As advertised. It arrived in perfect condition. No leakers and was clean. Not like it was sitting somewhere collecting dust. Actually arrived a day before promised.

I used this in the ZF6HP26 transmission in my '04 Jaguar and it works perfect. After reading on the Jaguar forums extensively I had no doubt, in spite of some debates, that this is an exact replacement for the up to $35/liter ZF Lifegaurd 6 fluid. The only difference is that it's red like trans fluid should be anyway ... and it's only 1/5 the price! Transmission works great again.

Use this instead of mercon lv in your ford 6.0

Bought this to perform a transmission fluid change on my 2008 F-250 6.4L. Transmission shifted better after I changed the fluid, so I must say this stuff is good!
