A must have!
A 100% must have if you're on the water, especially solo. It's easy to register and easy to use (hopefully I won't ever have to actually activate it).

Got mine all setup
Mine was for United States and registered successfully. Tested well. No complaints!

Gives me a good piece of mind
Well I suppose ot will work, but you really don't know until you actually activate it, I do feel confident that it will do what it is intended to do

Passed self test, current battery date, hopefully never need it!
Item arrived on time, registered the device with the NOAA website, performed a test in my front lawn. Passed on the first test. Arrived 4/29/24, battery expires 5 years from March 2024. I have seen a lot of reviews where people receive devices with 2-3 year old dates. Not the case for me. Hopefully never need it!

Seems like quality built, compact, hope to never use it.
I opted for the slightly more expensive version..PLB 425 ..it has a nice screen that gives you instant acknowledgement the unit is on and working. (I have only tested it - not actually activated it) Comes with a carrying case ..you can attach to your belt or Velcro loop to something. I ordered mine from Orbital Satcom corp..an outfit from the United Kingdom. My first unit had an issue with the labels - the date of manufacture was missing (thus I was unable to register it with ACR for the warranty. After contacting both Orbital Satcom and ACR..i was sent a new unit...problem solved. Check your label on the box and the unit itself.. make sure date of manufacture is on there.

Outdoorsmans' best friend.
This unit does one thing and does it redundatly well. Best of all its water resistant and floats. Puts out 5 watts of power to get a signal out in most conditions. (Unlike the other subscription based units that only put out less that half a watt). And no pesky monthly charges. This and my hand held ham radio will supplement my sketchy cel phone when I'm in the outdoors here in northern Idaho. Its a great choice to keep you alive, its cheap life insurance. All you do is register the device and add contact numbers to your file in case of emergency. A sticker is sent in the mail, and you're covered.

Peace of mind
This device gives us all piece of mind. Off shore fishing in bad weather can be worrisome for the partners of the fishermen. This device keeps everyone at ease.

Not reliable
Product failed on first use, got activated by itself with the guard still on, coast guard got deployed to get me, I was fine, product was stuck in on position and couldn’t be turned off by any means, coast guard keep calling for 2 days until battery fully died. Product was sent back. Good news is that PBL do work in case of an emergency, it was an unintended test that probably cost tax payers some money!
