Shower bench is very sturdy
This shower bench just fits on my bathtub. My tub is not small, so that surprised me. The reason is that the lip of the tub on the side of the tile wall is narrow, pushing the bench out towards the other tub wall. The bench does fit. It is quite sturdy and I am not a small woman. I feel so much more secure than I would with a bench that just sits down into the tub on its bench legs. It is solid... not going to move anywhere, and not going to fall down, no matter how much I move around on it. Yet removing it would be simple. I can't pull myself up from the bench in the tub because the bench is too low for me to do so, so instead I swing my legs around and out of the tub where I have nonslip pads and then use my toilet back and sink etc to get out of the tub. This works because the bench is so secure. I had one of those approximately $500 electric bath chairs that lower and raise you into and out of the tub. This works far better for me. I got this bench because the bath chair won't work unless the back is reclined, and that pushes the chair so far forward in the tub that there is almost no room to bathe my legs. With this bath bench, there is plenty of room. Also the electric bath chair felt very insecure and flimsy with the "wings" on each side of the seat, whenvever I tried to bathe my legs or even just get into or out of the bath chair. Again, this bench is VERY SECURE. It is SOLID SUPPORT as I get in or out of the tub, as well as while I bathe myself. For years I have been unable to really scrub my legs. Now I can. Before I could reach my legs and feet but was too unsteady to scrub. I can stand, but cannot pull myself up from the floor, so cannot just sit in the tub. I highly recommend this particular bath bench that is secured to the tub walls and sits on top of the tub wall. I use a shower head with shower hose to reach me. And this cost only around $40, not $500 or a thousand.

THE Best Buy!
I had my doubts about this product. I'm in my 40s, and didn't want something in my bath that would say "Grandma" to all my friends. Still, I needed something that would make showers comfortable. I looked into the teak benches, but reviews said that the joints loosened after a year or two, and replacing them that often would've been too expensive. I considered the little stools that sit on the floor of the tub - but I am a pretty big gal and didn't think they'd be comfortable - plus, they were ugly and I didn't like the idea of being so low. When I saw the Carex Portable Shower Bench, I was skeptical - but the price was so low, I figured I'd take a chance and just use it until I found something I liked better. The bench arrived fine, but required a bit of putting together. The instructions had no words - only diagrams, and figuring out what they wanted me to do took a few minutes - but I finally made sense out of it. The knobs which adjusted the bench to fit the sides of the tub went together very easily. The rubber pads that protect the tub were a bigger challenge. There were four options for their location, depending on how the seat fit the tub. We have a clawfoot tub that's against the wall, so the fit is different on each side, and I used different settings. The rubber pads are largest in the center and fit tightly, so I had to get my husband to help get them in place - my hands weren't strong enough. Still, total time to having the bench completely assembled took less than 15 minutes. The bench is wide, and the height is perfect. My first shower was difficult, but once I discovered that it words best to have my BACK to the showerhead, things suddenly fell into place. It is so much more comfortable than sitting directly on the tub floor, and all my shower goods can be set right next to me on the bench. No more lost scrubbies! The subtle sculpting of the seat makes it very comfortable. I adjusted the knobs so they slide easily, but tightly, into the tub. The bench is VERY secure - there is no way it's going to slide sideways. The plastic is high quality, not dry and brittle as I'd feared. It is VERY solid. And, when my shower is over, I simply place it out of sight - since it's only about four inches thick, it doesn't require a lot of space to be hidden away. I like this shower bench so well, in fact, that I've stopped looking for an alternative. Hard as it may be to believe, the low priced Carex is actually just perfect for me and I can't imagine anything which could improve upon it.

Sturdy, easy to put together
Put it together pretty quickly, I will say that fitting it snugly against the edges was a little difficult. it easily shifts while you tighten it, and if you're not careful, it will end up loose when you're done, because it moved partway through. I had to readjust several times, but that's fine by me, so long as by doing so I can ensure a snug and firm fit. The tension pegs have one flat side, the rest round. I used the flat side against the edges of the tub, and flipped the other two around to use the round side against the back curve of the tub, so they had much more contact and grip. And now it's where I want it, it seems to be secure. the front bends just a little under my weight (150), probably because the back takes none of the load, being on top of the back edge of the tub. but I don't plan to be sitting on it without my feet on the floor, so no worries there. not only are the tension pegs adjustable, there are also 4 rubber grips for each corner, with 3 options each of where they can go. 2 on the sides, 1 on the short edge. so you can also customize the grip with those according to your placement. Seems like it will work perfectly for my needs, and be easy to simply lift out and put away if I have guests using the tub.

Quality purchase. Good price. Sugguestions for manufactuer on directions.
Bought this a week ago and arrived quickly. I was able to set it up myself, even though directions are basically picture diagrams only and it was a little confusing where to put the 2 rubber pads. Would have been better to add explanation in writing. Also, Would be helpful if product manufacturer specified that compatible width measurement fittings are for the inside of the tub. Had to ask Rufus before purchasing for clarification. My bathtub has different measurements on the inside of the tub but I was still able to get it to fit securely thanks to the 4 adjustable parts.

Very easy to clean up the soap scum and rise off the hair. It's stable and safe. Much better than the shower chair that I had which I found the the soap scum and hair were caught inside the tubes (legs) and they are very difficult to clean which can accumulate bacteria easily. I would recommend this shower bench to anyone who have senior in their household.

I am very happy with this product! I have a oddly shaped tub that is beveled at the top and I wasn’t sure this would work but i didn’t want a big transfer bench, so i thought I would give this a try. I was thoroughly impressed, it want together very easily with no tools from the comfort of my arm chair, it was easy to adjust for a secure fit and was very sturdy(im only 150lbs). Very impressed.

Quality seems ok but it flexes alarmingly if 300lbs is put on it. It doesn’t seem to have much of a safety margin past its weight rating. Feels like if you sit down too fast at would break. I would treat the 300lb rating as its max breaking strength and wouldn’t trust it past 250lbs As far as functionality I liked it. Easy to adjust, it stays put nicely with the rubber grips. If it wasn’t for the weight rating issues it would be 5 stars.

Have had it for over a year now. It is strong and works well. We have an old tub and it just fits with the adjustable "legs" to the smallest possible size. Like that it has a soap holder. We don't use the handle, but it is very sturdy too.

I bought this for my elder mother to use while showering as she sometimes get light headed. She loves it and finds it very stable and comfortable. I love that she feels safer. It is adjustable to fit snugly on the top and sides of the tub yet is very easy to remove for cleaning.
