This microscope is more than adequate for what I use it for and it is priced low enough to make it the best for the money.It is very easy to set up and use. There have been some complaints about instructions but there should have been a piece of paper in with the product to give the exact website for the manual. You can also go to AmScope website and download it. There are some small screws on the underside of the eyepiece that are very fine Phillips head. You need to loosen these in order to change lenses or install the camera. This camera is also usable on Windows 8 as long as you install the drivers for the camera before you plug it in. There are instructions on the installation that tell you when to plug in the USB cable. Since I have both AmScope and OMAX microscopes, I found that the software for the OMAX also works well with this microscope and a small hand-held scope. Some of the other scopes offer more magnification range, but remember that you are only going to see on the computer what comes through the camera. It will not be the same magnification as what you see through the eye piece and if you are doing detailed work, you will need to calibrate the camera. There are other more expensive microscopes with controlled stage movement that may be better for your use, so make sure to do your homework. AmScope and OMAX are pretty competitive in the biological microscopes but AmScope gives more bang for the buck in the binocular and metallurgical ones.

After years of using Wild brand scopes as a professional entomologist, I know I'm spoiled. Nonetheless, this is a great package for a kid (I bought it for my seven-year-old), and very reasonably priced.As an Ubuntu user, I was happy to see Linux mentioned on the eyepiece camera's driver disc, but there was nothing on that disc that was usable. Fortunately, the program Cheese (included in my Ubuntu distribution, but freely available regardless) works just fine for taking photos or making videos, though its lowest magnification is a bit high for watching living critters.The scope is solid and well put together, and great for occasional household use.

Cheap and unreliable. Screws fell out while in use and impossible to screw back in due to angle. Lights flicker due to bad wiring connection. Contacted seller to replace or return with no response. Bummer.

Although the price point for this scope is decent, you get what you pay for. The concept of replacing the eyepiece for a camera is a sound one, but there are two problems with this model:1. There is no way to affix the camera in the eyepiece barrel, and as a result it rotates while you're trying to use it.2. The advertised magnification of 80X requires the use of the objective at 4X and the eyepiece at 20X. Since the camera replaces the eyepiece, the magnification cannot be 80X. Unless the camera is using a digital magnification, which will sacrifice resolution.

I am a casual hobby user of this microscope. I "need" to see leaf structure, bug wings, inside of beads, etc. Even though the instructions are minimal, it is very intuitive and easy to operate. Also their website has very good information. - This 'scope comes with a camera so I can see it on my computer monitor. The graphics program for this camera has quite a learning curve but doable. It does a whole lot more than I need. The camera also fits on any other scope, which is a bonus. Both items are of very nice quality, especially considering the price. I can recommend this, as well as the seller

I think this is a very nice product for the price with decent optical quality. I used a "professional" stereo microscope in my job and the AmScope doesn't seem noticeably inferior. I haven't played with the camera yet.Not so great:1. Short ocular eye relief: with glasses on, the full field of view is cut off.2. The scope is smaller than a pro unit, great for a child, but I need to set it on a large book to raise it up enough to use comfortably for any extended period.3. The two internal light sources are just OK and only one can be used at a time. For serious work, an external flexible iluminator for side lighting is a necessary addition.4. Each ocular is held in place with a tiny screw and no suitable watchmaker's screwdriver is included, so switching between ocular sets is a bit of a problem. I'm guessing that this product is aimed at children's classrooms where oculars tend to go missing.

Given the price, I was concerned that this might be a cheap piece of equipment. but it really isn't. Its 100% well built and manufactured and operates flawlessly.I grow Herbal curative and use the microscope to inspect trichome development as the plants mature in their flowering stage. This microscope is absolutely perfect and the ability to photograph and document theI development is A big plus. Not only does the camera module work great but the software it comes with is fabulous. I'm 110% thrilled with this purchase :-)

Lo que no me gusto es que no es muy claro en la explicacion de las caracteristicas del microscopio en cuanto a que la posibilidad de ver con 40 x es haciendo el cambio de lentes, eso no es muy agradable para usuarios, pero espero que eso se solucione con la camara.Otra cosa que NO me pareció es que entre Amazon Mexico y Amazon de USA evaden la responsabilidad de que uno tenga la factura de lo que uno compra, es decir México dice que por ser de USA no da factura y los de USA dicen como no lo compraste directamente con nosotros no aparce en nuestro sistema y pues no te la puedo dar.
