Presto 06006 Kitchen Kettle Multi-Cooker/Steamer, Black

Works well:I have 2 of these, one is larger. Both are extremely well suited for my purposes of deep frying and large batch bean dishes. I also slow cook pork tenderloins so they pull apart for some of my bean dishes, chili, caribbean, etc. One is always full of oil and the other waits patiently on the shelf.

I have used Presto products for years, most recently one of the "Fry Daddys" which I eventually wore out. This model is larger, deeper and heats faster, plus it doubles as a great vegetable steamer by just putting in a little water in the pot and hanging the vegetable basket on steaming/draining hook.Capacity is adequate con-sidering you have to keep batches small enough anyway to avoid cooling down the oil from optimal frying temperature. In that regard, I did find the temperature control to cut off a little early; when set to "400", the recommended frying temp., it actually cuts off at 350 degrees and then maintains a working temperature about 325-350. However, this seemed to be hot enough to fry without excessive saturation of oil in the food.Several reviewers have complained about the magnetic attachment of the power cord to the heating probe control, in that it detaches easily. This is a safety feature in case the cord is caught on something and would otherwise pull the entire pot full of hot oil off the counter. I had no problem with it but you do have to be careful to keep the cord on the counter, not hanging down where someone could catch it.For thick pieces of chicken such as large drumsticks, I found the best technique was to pre-bake them to about 140 degrees, then bring them up to the required 160 degrees in the fryer, to be sure that the chicken is cooked through before the outside is too brown.

I love this pan! Since I seldom cook I got rid of my stove and would use a hot plate when I needed to cook. With this pan I don't need the hot plate. It's easy to pull out, cook, clean and put away. My only problem with it is that the on/off switch turns on if you accidentally touch the handle while moving it around. So, if your not careful, you could walk away and leave an empty pot heating up.

Great product. My husband loves it, he now thinks he can cook LOL.
