The movie was better
Ok, knowing that the book was written by a 15 yr old, my review can't be too harsh, but I did not like Elle in the book. She is the one that pushed things with Noah and then he took the blame. When the reveal occurred, all of a sudden she refuses to talk to Noah or answer his calls and hides when he's looking for her, and then Noah is the one apologizing for how he treated her. I never once read where she was mistreated. The flow was off in the book. Conversation stilted, situations that built and then fizzled into nothing, settings and scenery and characters undeveloped. I read a lot of YA and this book was just ok, I wanted more...but it was written by a 15 yr old and that's more than I've ever done in life.To know that it was sold to Netflix and turned into a movie, I'm proud of this author I've never met. The movie was better because it added the cute factor that was missing in the book. Loved the best friend's rules in the movie. Just a little more panache overall. With that said, I recommend both for the reader and the movie watcher.

Terribly written
I decided to read this after watching the Netflix movie. The concept is there but there were obviously a TON of rewrites by professionals. This was at times almost painful to read it was so badly written and it went on for way too long. Save yourself time, money, and frustration... Just watch the movie, it's way better.

First love at best
It was the book for utter romantics. It embodies first love at its best. It shows the highs and the lows and it is honest. The characters don’t fall head over heals at first sight but they fall deeply in love. Although it is definitely cheesy and slightly predictable it is the kind of cheesy that makes smile with joy. It makes you remember first love and if it u haven’t experienced love yet it makes dream about things to come. Is it the best book I have read this year. No. But is it everything I could have wished for a and more yes. Please read

Watch movie, book disappointing
I really enjoyed the movie. It really made me reflect back to when l was in high school. The kiss in the kissing booth and green house was sooo sexy. The movie was far better in portraying the best friend relationship and made it very believable. Together with the best friends rules. In most cases the book is soo much better than the movie, but in this particular case it was disappointing. Especially because the book usually give you so much more insight to the characters and their thoughts, which didn’t really happen. Granted the writer was very young. For her age it was pretty good, even l have to admit. It however didn’t match up to the movie sadly.

I love the chemistry between Noah and Elle. Good story line....it's romantic and realistic at the same time. Can't wait for a sequel.....

Good
I've read so many comments both good and bad. I decided to read it fir myself. This was a good book. It wasn't the best I've ever read, but definitely good. The yelling between characters seemed a little forced at times, but I've felt that way before so I get it. Good book.

DNF at 32% (p.138 of 442)
Although cheesy, I enjoyed the movie adaptation as mindless entertainment. This book, however, was just a trainwreck, and not in an entertaining way. This is a rant review. Here are the notes I took while I read: *The author wrote this at 15, and I applaud her for that. However, it's obvious the editors did not bother to "fix it up" because the book already had a huge audience on Wattpad, which equaled gaurenteed profit.*"I always set my alarm twenty minutes earlier than I needed to, since I hated getting out of bed." The only thing I liked, because I relate to this.*"Riiiiiiiip!" The sound ripping pants make.*"Pray tell" British slang maybe?*p.71: Noah and Elle have their first fight. She is angry at him because he sabotaged her chances of getting a boyfriend since he doesn't trust the jerks they go to school with. However, Elle is a "big girl...[who] can make her own decisions".*How she justifies everything Noah does: "Sure, he was incredibly attractive." ??? Why are we constantly reminded that he's handsome but he's never described?! Is she trying to convince us that he's attractive???*Rolling-eyes is her personality. As I was reading, it became mine, too.*"We walked into the screen, the ads already playing." Such an English California girl.*If you get date advice from John Tucker Must Die, I pray for you.*Apparently I should hit my friends *shrugs**Was I this childish at 17? Randomly hitting friends & splattering them with paint for fun???!!!!*Undoing one button & taking off a tie is ✨scandalous✨ Noah thinks that's half dressed? She's covered in "sexy" paint.*Pecking lips became a full make out because it was Noah Flynn.*p. 131: We learn that Noah's reputation is just gossip and he's really lonely. This agitated me, probably because it is terribly cliché.

Teen Angst
There is a lot of inconsistent thought with the characters, "I love him, I hate him." They were insecure and unsure of each other and very concerned with what others thought. That is exactly the crux of the teenage life cycle. Thank God it only lasts 6 years. Overall liked the characters and she did a good job of capturing the whirlwind of teenage first love.

I have learned this over the years to not watch the films first because the books are usually better, I really hope the film is in this ...
Wow... I don't even really know what to write lol!I only bought the book because I wanted to watch the film on Netflix but I am a firm believer now of reading the book before I watch the films. I have learned this over the years to not watch the films first because the books are usually better, I really hope the film is in this case because the relationship was not healthy.Elle and Lee are born exact same day, exact time, mums were besties everything's great, power friendship and all that, until Lee's big brother, is thrown into the mix, will this make or break their friendship? If I knew this was a Wattpad I would have avoided paying for it as I'm not a huge Wattpad fan, most of it can be a lot of crap but I know people do find a lot of stuff they like on it. Did I hate the full story, funnily enough, no! It was cheesy, romantic and usually my bag as I do love a little cliche, I can't help myself. What I didn't like was how controlling and violent Noah could be, how it was normal for your 16 year old to stay out after prom with a boy you do not like. How there are no consequences for anything any of them do, this alas is because it has been written by a 17 year old who thinks this is the way that life should be, absolutely not. There was no character building, maybe Noah towards the end but it was really repetitive which really pissed me off because if I had to read once more OHMIGOSHHHH HOW CAN YOU BE SO NORMAL ROUND HIM? LIKE HOW CAN YOU JUST BE YOURSELF?! Uhhh hello?! WHO SAYS THESE THINGS?! Or the fact that it was wow Noahs so violent, let's make out, all forgiven yey! There were good bits to the book, I even nearly shed a little tear at the end wondering if they do make it, will their love last?! But I wish I just went ahead and watched the film first meh!"I'm your other half. The Ashley to your Mary Kate, the Thing One to your Thing Two" he added with a smirk."

I liked it, then thought about it.
I read this book in one go after watching the Netflix film. I skipped through it quite happily, it was light, fluffy and entertaining.Looking back however and thinking about it more deeply. It's an uncomfortable read.It has strong displays of toxic masculinity and though the heroine is aggravated by it she ultimately forgives the men in her life who treat her like a child. What's most disturbing about this book, is that I enjoyed it until I really thought about what I was reading.

Not really much about a kissing booth.
Reading this book after seeing the movie has given me split views on some the characters and cemented my views on others. Both only had a snippet that was actually relevant to a kissing booth. The rest was just a typical opposites attract love story. Book Lee is probably my favourite overall. He is understandably hurt by the developing relationship of his best friend and brother and even though he has issues is supportive of them if not accepting. Elle is not the sort of character I enjoyed in either book or movie. She seemed incredibly immature and naive and was quick to abandon her beliefs all because of 1 kiss. Noah is a constant in the book and movie that he is shown to be a typical jock but also smart enough for Ivy League standards. An unusual combo in YA romance but one I admire. There were parts of the movie I wish had been in the book such as the list and the scene where Lee explains how hurt he is that Noah has Elle too but most of the important scenes were there. The ending felt rushed and hugely condensed. As a whole it was a nice read but not one I'll be going back to. If there is a sequel then I'd probably get it to follow the characters but not likely to read other books by the author.

Different but brilliant
I first discovered The Kissing Booth when I saw the movie trailer on Facebook, so I saved it on Netflix and watched it a few days ago. Having loved the film I downloaded the book and I just finished after two days of reading, omg what a difference between the book and the movie! It was similar but different at the same time, I adore both versions
