A fun filled, interesting must read on Feminism and Liberalism
Malana Cream does a brave attempt at bringing answers to some of the typical issues, surrounding women and men, that influence our society since ages. The author spellbounds the readers with free-frank street dialogue on Liberalism, Feminism (first, second and third wave), Chauvinism, spirituality and more while on his adventurous journey on fat-boy in picturesque landscapes from Dhauladhars to Parvati Valley in Himachal. The author has beautifully captured the liveliness of two people’s conversation; one being a male chauvinist who consider women to be a sex object and a liberal woman who puts him in perspective through a mature logic. The book does a good job at enticing readers interest on these issues, forces them to do loud thinking, and clear the cob webs and stereotypes. It hints at gender diversity to be a thing of past and equality to be the new norm. This interesting conversations around feminism makes the book a really good read for anyone, no matter whether they are previously acquainted with the movement or not. A reader who is new to the topic gets a pleasing introduction that is fun and conducive to know more. There are far too many smart one-liners which are creatively used through out the book and make it even more fun to read. I will highly recommend this masterpiece to fellow readers

After reading this book, I think I will take a trip down to the valley soon — it was THAT motivating.
“I received a copy of this book from the publishers in exchange for an honest review.”You know, when you look at the sky, you are looking at history?– Shalini SinghThe first thing about this book that made it hard for me to read was the small font and the lack of indentation. Maybe I’m not very used to such a thing, but well, that was what made it hard to get influenced by it, or in other words, hard to get into it.Then there was the whole issue of the characters. I found Ranveer Singh (does that name sound familiar? xD) quite irritating. His alpha male attitude made nothing but no sense. Other than that, his other attributes like his behaviour toward women irritated me beyond bounds.Rito seemed like a better character to me. Yet, her all-frank attitude added a new sort of irritation to my mood. I think the book could have been improved had there been a little more of characters involved, for example, Saba and Mili.Which reminds me, there was another issue that bothered me. Was her name Mili or Mia? There were a few moments where she was mentioned by one name and a few where she was mentioned by the other.Anyway, like I said, the book appeared to be a little less than what I had expected. I’m guessing another reason why that happened was that I am a little against the alpha male attitudes. I know that was what the motive of the book was, though, as in it was supposed to show the change in his attitude after meeting Rito, but I don’t know..something about the man seemed a little off. What appeared beautiful to me was his speech in the end. Not only did it show the change within him (thanks to Rito) but it also displayed how there is scope for improvement in this patriarchal society. And being a female, that is a quite important thing for me.In a nutshell thus, this book is beautiful if one doesn’t mind reading about an irritating protagonist turned better. That’s all.

read the book to know the story behind Malana Cream
The cover of the book is beautiful. The title is really interesting and arises the curiosity among readers as to what is the meaning of Malana cream. The story revolves around Ranveer Singh alpha male and Rito and there journey in the hill top. The book is combination liberalism, feminism, drama, fiction, backpacking, motorcycling, Himalayas, Buddhism. The characters are well developed, balanced and come across as normal human beings. Language of the book is lucid and written in a simple way to comprehend for any kind of reader. Slow at first resulting in the interest wavering at times. However, after the initial few pages the story slowly gained momentum and from thereon it became truly interesting and absorbing. Narration and characterization is done well. The author has portrayed each and every character with utmost significance of their own and every one of them has done justice to their respective roles throughout the story.A simple story with a strong message conveyed with ease and brilliance.Looking forward to read more books by the author.

the idioms gave me the joy to behold
‘Malana Cream’ by Shalini Singh is a hands-on account of the journey of two travellers, Ranvir Singh- a bigot, and Rito- a liberal. Together they uncover the mysterious valleys of the Himalayas and gather experiences that change their lives forever. This story is more of a travelogue that gives a chance to the readers to travel to the heavenly abode of Lord Shiva. Known for its value and the pleasure it provides, Malana Cream is the cultural fest that invites many weed lovers. Ranvir Singh signs up or rather is made to sign up for a project that requires an open mindset (which he does not have). Reluctantly, he embarks on a journey where he meets different kinds of people, gets an opportunity to soak in the culture and make a friend for life.Exemplary vocabulary adds to the content of the story. In addition, yes, of course, the idioms gave me the joy to behold. With a subtle and apt cover, ‘Malana Cream’ successfully captures the vital elements of the plot.Read complete review at aliveshadow [dot] com
