The set works beautifully. A great set and good and quick service I wish I had purchased a set that you twist and grind from the top through the bottom where this set operates in reverse The set is wonderful and will serve us very well. Sometimes we make mistakes when we do not do our research. I gave this set 4 stars only because of my mistake.

I used one of these for salt. After a year-and-a-half, the coarseness selector got stuck. Now it just doesn't grind. I used the other one for peppercorns. After a year-and-a-half, the grinder mechanism fell out. These really are the same quality as the disposible sealed grinders you can get at a supermarket. Don't waste your hard-earned money and go buy something a bit more durable.

So, this is what I was searching for (my ideal salt/pepper dispensers):1. Matching glass containers (I find glass so much more pleasing than plastic, and it must be clear to see if it needs refilling)2. Top dispensing (so I don't have pepper crumbs falling out the bottom onto the table)3. Pepper grinder (fresh ground pepper tastes better)4. Salt shaker (I can't taste the difference between table salt and freshly ground coarse salt, it's all the same mineral: NaCl, and doesn't taste "fresh" when ground like an organic substance such as pepper. Plus I like that table salt has iodine added whereas coarse salts do not. Also, table salt is much cheaper than the fancy coarse salts.)I could not find any matching sets that fulfilled the above criteria (and I searched and searched!), so I went ahead and ordered this grinder set. I did not want a salt grinder, but decided to see if I could just put table salt in this grinder. It works! I can adjust the grind size so that I can use the salt grinder essentially as a salt shaker. If too much pours out, I then tighten up the grind size and can find just the right opening to have the salt shake out in a good amount, not too much, not too little. I am very happy with this product; it's a beautiful set with a large capacity so I don't have to fill it often. The tops make them even more attractive.

I ordered these mills based on the few 5 star reviews and description. Be careful! These are not high quality construction. The glass vessels have decent weight and the ceramic grinder is nice. Outside of that, these are cheap plastic and likely to break. The lids fit very loose and are brushed aluminum, not stainless steel. This would be a decent set for $10-$12, but aren't worth much more than that. I am very curious to see how these hold up to daily use and will update my review accordingly.

It seems it's difficult to make reliable salt and pepper grinders. I bought this set, hoping it was beefy enough to last. After a year, the salt grinder is still working fine, but the pepper grinder doesn't. Looking closely at the grinding mechanism in the picture, I can see where a plastic piece is broken. The result is the entire mechanism turns, instead of one being held in place while the grinder turns. Hence it doesn't work.

This is a great product. No pepper mess on the counter! I have only used it for pepper corns, I wanted one for work and one for at home. Grinds easily and smoothly. I am pleasantly surprised each time I use it. Even though I saw the dimensions I was still surprised at how big they are. I think the picture gives you the impression that it is a small set, which overrides the brain on the actual dimensions. 7 inches means 7 inches and 2.25 inches wide means that, so don't get decieved by the picture. I still really like them, just thought they would be smaller. Packaged well and shipped promptly. No complaints so far. I would recommend them. Includes a Cover to keep out dust and make them look nice! What more could you want.

This is a great size and looking product and holds the perfect amount of rock salt and pepper. Unfortunately the ceramic grinding mechanism is held in place by 3 small pieces of plastic and our unit only lasted 15 months under regular household use and cannot be fixed.

Not as well made as expected. Kind of cheaply made. Low quality glass, thin SS. Grinds rather crude. Just ok. Nice that it can sit with grinds on top so it does not leave residual bits of salt and pepper on the table.
