Perfect bag
Really great bag! A bag this size on average is $300+, for almost half that you can get an amazing osprey bag that has all the bells and whistles! There aren't many exterior pockets which can be a bummer but I have used this bag on three hikes now and on all of them I was able to fit everything I needed and much more within my new bag! The webbed/netted back rest is amazing. Everytime the wind blows over my back while im hiking i cant help but think how happy I am I went with this pack. The comfort is amazing. The adjustability on its own makes this bag a 10/10 for me.

PERFECT FOR THE MINIMALISTS
While this is a heavy pack at 3.3lbs, it is very rugged and made to last. The buckles are made incredibly well and you will never have to worry about them breaking or failing like you will hear about with other packs. The air speed suspension is great at ensuring your back remains cool and the side pockets are very convenient. while this pack is rated to hold 30-40 lbs, i have loaded it to 55lbs no problem. Not very comfortable with that much weight but doable. I have since then gotten the base weight down to 25lbs and this pack makes that weight feel non existent because of how the weight is distributed. I am a beginner to backpacking and this pack is an undeniable value for the minimalists. great adjustment system which helps the pack fit most anyone like a glove and a down right gorgeous pack. I would highly recommend this pack to anyone who is simple and keeps it simple (ultra lite backpackers). I can fit everything i have in this pack incredibly organized and i could not be any happier.

Very well-designed light weight pack
At first, I didn't like this pack. I was used to packs with more external pockets and one more horizontal division with zippered entry than this one offers. Also, a hard external frame that allows the pack to stand up. But I got to love this pack for its many thoughtful features and would recommend it over more "complicated packs".The hip belt is wide and supportive. You need to remove weight from your shoulders and place it down low on your hips, otherwise you'll get tired much sooner. This allows you to hike further and possibly quicker. It's a must-have item for any serious backpacker.I did wish the hip belt buckle were different. It seemed tricky to use at times and was sometimes hard to tighten. I wish it had a "pre-set" clasp that could be custom-adjusted to your hip size. The two buckle pieces then come together and simply lock in front, instead of the webbing woven through an "over-under arrangement".Each side of the hip belt has a zippered pocket large enough to hold some small items like flashlight, insect repellent, water purification tablets, keys, etc. I was glad they were there. The sides each have a mesh pocket perfect for a Liter water bottle. There is a pocket/flap area for a water bladder, but I didn't use it.There is a top flap pocket which holds flat or fairly small things like maps, guides, flashlight, compass, etc.The main compartment holds quite a bit and the string closure device works very well. Hold the little tab and pull and it opens wide. Squeeze the small locking device and pull the string and it tightens the load securely. This section held my 2 man tent, sleeping bag, clothes and food.A zippered section 2/3 of the way down has a "floating" floor, which also allows entry of trekking pole, etc. This section works well for mess kit, stove, fuel, etc. You really want to put heavier items down as low as possible in the pack.At the very bottom is a small zippered compartment to hold the waterproof pack cover. I never used it, but did try to once, only to discover that if you have anything attached to the outside, like a rolled-up foam sleeping pad, the cover won't work. The pack is very water resistant anyway, and even though we got poured on numerous times, my sleeping bag and clothes stayed dry. There are a number of external attachment points. As mentioned, I attached a lightweight foam sleeping pad. There is an excellent mesh back support that allows air to flow behind you, keeping you a bit cooler. Very nice! The shoulder straps are adjustable in height (location on the pack) as well as overall length and have a cross-chest strap that really helps to stabilize the load. This fits torso length 17-22. Measure from top of hip bones to base of neck. This range covers "small" to "tall". For more info search: "backpack torso length measurement".The pack is rugged, easy to use, has a grab handle and yes, it does stand up (when fully loaded) :)I really enjoyed using it and soon forgot any misgivings I might have had earlier as it earned my respect and appreciation with its many good qualities. All of the zippers worked really well. I never had any jams.Pricing varies and I bought this earlier in the season (mid-May) before demand firmed up the price and paid $123 delivered. Thanks Amazon!I really like the green color vs. black.I recommend this item and would buy it again. If this review helped you in any way, please indicate that. Thanks!

Great pack- just wish it had a bit more
You can't beat the price for this great pack. As with all Osprey products, they are quality built and have a fantastic warranty. I was easily able to carry all my gear for a multi-day hike, and it was comfortable to do so. There is plenty of room inside the pack, although I wish it had an exterior expandable mesh like my old Talon did so I could shove a jacket or spare shirt in there without having to take up space in the main compartment. I did purchase a separate Osprey that attaches to the Rook and gives me some extra space, and also gives me a day hike pack to use from a basecamp. This pack fits nicely on the shoulders and the hip belt is comfortable even when cinched down. The larger flip top compartment lets me store a good amount of stuff up top. My sleeping bag fits inside the pack along with my tent, stakes and poles, and my Jetboil. Leaves plenty of room for food, my 3L bladder, some extra clothing, some comfort items, etc. It starts to push the upper limits of storage if you have to pack for a multi day and need some extra layers, so be cautious of the volume of your jackets and overshirts. The separate day pack I got will easily handle a first aid kit, small light source and other miscellaneous items. Overall, the pack is well made, fits comfortably, and works great on the trail.

Great bag!
Perfect size and well constructed. I bought it for a trip to Guatemala but have already tested it out. Lots of pockets for storage, waterproof and comfortable to carry on my back. Highly recommended!

Great pack for the price: UPDATE
This back is amazing for the price. For me at least, the fit was awesome, and the suspension distributes weight really well. It is really light! Four stars vs 5 for two reasons: The top compartment (not removable) is a bit difficult to access, and the pack is hard to set upright due to the shape of the bottom of the pack. I love it and would recommend if a higher end osprey pack is out of your budget. Like it was for me.UPDATE: upgraded my review to a 5 star. I have about 5-6 trips with this pack, and maybe 100 miles and I adapted to the problems above. Some of the things I really like now include: The mesh suspension keeps the pack off of most of my back, so I am not sweating into it in 90 degree weather. The hip belt is really nice, including the pockets. The strap arrangement is nice, and keeps the weight on your hips vs shoulders. Durability has been good. No rips, holes, broken clips etc. Would buy again.
