Wrong Forward Rotor Head Fitted
I can’t really put any general star ratings on this bird, it’s a complicated issue. Basically, it’s a fantastic model with great details. Should be a 5 star … When I took it out of the box, I was thrilled by its details. Most of the things I worked on for over 40 years (Mk1 through Mk6, including the infamous Mk3s) are on the inside, i.e. electrical/avionics. But I can see all the related external antennas and sensors, even the ASE chaff/flare dispensers, IRCM, RWR and MWS. And little things unrelated to my job like forward gear that rotate or a ramp tongue that stays out do not bother me. However, my model appears to have two Aft Rotor Heads, at lease as designed by the model maker to provide different keying to Murphy proof the attachment of the rotor blades. Both heads have square mounts. I had to use the second set of Aft blades on the forward head. I tried flipping them. But the placed the forward blades at an odd pitch relative to the aft ones and put the blade cradle markings on top. So the forward blades are facing the wrong way, big deal, it’s not a flying model. And I’m not supporting Boeing flight test anymore. Well, it matters to me, just too much personal history to totally ignore it. I’ll place a relevant query with the supplier.
