have had this item 11 month and its stopped working i have replaced the battery but its still will not work

Is the "cm" ruler be continuous from one end to the other end? Ad pic shows the ruler starts from the middle away to each side

It states that it measures to 0.3 degrees accuracy and mine is exactly 0.3 degrees out :( is it possible to recalibrate it (I dont mean zeroing it)?
