writes fine, and the feed seems to be doing all ...
Writes well so far, not without some rare skips though, but the nib is only partially responsible for it with the ink holding up the other end of the job. When some pressure is applied, writes fine, and the feed seems to be doing all right; just a general fountain pen quirk that is applicable to all pens of this kind, when you're just starting to write with it. This is not a convenience pen for fast reliable writing. It's a pen for someone who likes to have nice things (in this case nice things made of metal that last for ages~ buy one good thing once and not worry about it). Someone who expects a pen to always write the moment it is in their hand, might do well with a ballpoint pen or a fisher space pen (that said, this pen still usually writes the moment you uncap it, so long as there is ink in it). This pen is for when you want to sit down, relax, shake it a couple times to get the ink to flow (hopefully not dripping pools of ink onto everything), and take your time writing with a nice instrument that you spoiled yourself with (though not costing a car as some gold-nibbed pens do). There is some maintenance involved (rare washing/refilling). This kind of pen is also for someone who wants some color in their writing, as you can make your own ink, or choose from a myriad of colorful offerings on the market. Stiffness is to be expected of a steel nib. Steel barrel and design overall seem well made and aesthetically pleasing. Sits all right in the hand, though very top heavy when posted. I thought I'd hate the plastic insert on the cap and would appreciate a smooth metal finish much more, and that maybe that plastic bit is justified if it can be used as a stillus pen, but alas~ it looks all right though. Ruins the overall color scheme and metal body somewhat, but is bearable, and doesn't look ugly. Not sure what the grip is made of (hopefully also steel, but quite possibly plastic), but it's comfortable enough and doesn't seem too slippery when compared to my parker jotter ballpoint. There are lots of turns to go through when taking the pen apart, and it doesn't seem terribly secure when it's screwed on (easily rotates in the hand), but it's all right. The silicone ring on the inside of the cap will also hopefully last and not disintegrate after a while, which would make the pen impossible to close.. I don't think that would happen for some years though. Anyway, now I have a steel ballpoint pen, mechanical pencil, and this fountain pen (left some pens on the other side of the world, not finding them when I moved >.>...), so I'm looking forward to not dealing with disgusting disintegrated, slipping rubber grips and chipping paint with yet again disgusting surface underneath said paint, of cheap pens and pencils, for years. The case is nice; the pen is nice. Not a flashy expensive weird ridiculous looking pen, but an aesthetically pleasing instrument. One of the better looking pens I could find on amazon, and it is a little bigger than I expected, but just as good looking as in the photos. It holds long international cartridges so far as I am aware (I'm using short ones I had with me and ordered a 50-pack of black stubby cartridges to last me a while), not all pens do. Given it is made of metal, still do pay attention and try not to drop it on its nib, or you will have trouble getting the prongs back together, and making the pen write consistently ever again (lest you want to seek out a specialist to put your pen back in working order; I dropped my nice "batman" parker pen once and it never wrote well since). If I ever get to it, I may upload a photo or two with this pen next to my parker jotter for size comparison, and update this review with any more pertinent information.Update as of 12.14.17: I am very happy with this pen. Good writing instrument.

A hint of classic sophistication on a budget.
No complaints here.Upon opening the product packaging, I was quite impressed with the logo-embossed black leatherette case I was presented with. The presentation certainly affords praise, and the quality introduction is moreover followed through with an ivory-colored felt-lined interior of which the pen was held in place by an elastic band concealed under a decorative strip of ivory-colored ribbon. The Pen itself (Stainless Steel) reflects quality craftsmanship, as was advertised. The physical weight of it feels pleasant (IMO)—it doesn’t feel featherlight, but it doesn’t feel too “weighty” either. The design of the cap is such that removing and replacing it is done with relative ease. It certainly feels securely fastened when attached and doesn’t invite doubts of it falling off—say, in a shirt pocket, or travel/computer bag— for any reason. The cap does present quite an audible “click” when snapping it on. I would equate the decibel level to that of an ordinary hand-operated stapler. In owning several removable-cap pens, I would rate it on the louder end of the spectrum— fine for everyday business settings, perhaps not so much when light sleepers are nearby (in that event, you may need to Cap the pen strategically to muffle the sound). On my initial use of the pen, engaging the disposable ink cartridge was relatively easy. A link to instructions on how to do so is provided on a product card, which was included with the pen. Specific instructions were not directly included along with the product, so if you are unfamiliar with how to operate any of the cartridges, or need tips on pen use, bear in mind you will need to have an available connection to the internet to view the online instructionals.Writing QualityThe writing quality of this Scribe sword pen is very nice. The nib feels firm, the ink flows steadily and doesn’t bleed when lagging along the paper surface—as some other fountain pens I have used tend to do. Overall, it’s an enjoyable writing experience.Final ThoughtsAll-in-all I would highly recommend this pen to anyone in the market for a fountain pen. It could serve as an everyday fountain pen or a pen you keep on hand for special occasions (that is, unless you decide to work up to something on the more pricier end of the fountain pen spectrum). The pen’s quality, the writing enjoyment and product presentation (i.e. packaging) certainly make it something to consider if you’re looking to give someone a classy gift on a budget (graduation, birthday, promotion, etc.) My recommendation if you plan on giving this pen as a gift: wrap the pack of ink cartridges separately, as this will allow the pen to be displayed in all its glory when the gift recipient opens the leatherette case for the first time (First impressions are everything, are they not). This Scribe Sword Fountain with Ink is definitely a great value for the money.

A beautiful writing instrument at economical price
I purchased this after much research as I wanted to graduate to a fountain pen and did not want a cheap , plastic behinner pen . It arrived today and here is my personal experienceThe black paper box which covers the solid pen case looked worn out which disappointed meThe thick box lacked the finnesse which I expected but was alright ..The pen was shiny , looked like an emperor sitting in that box . Though , I felt the built could have had a better or finer exterior to give it a premium lookStruggled a bit with cartridges but finally managed it by reading though the instructions on their websiteWent through their tutorials on how to write and get ink flowingSat down to writing and after initial patchy ink flowing, it started writing effortlessly like a dreamIt also ,.comes with a converter wherein you can refill directly from the ink bottleOverall, a satisfying experience and I look forward to writing with it

Feels great, writes just okay
My feelings toward this pen are mixed. To explain the mixed feelings, I will break this review into two areas; the feel of the pen and the writing quality. For comparison, I have used Pilot disposable fountain pens and have a Kaweco Sport fountain pen. In comparing both, the feel of this pen is better; however I would also love to swap the nib on either of those pens with the Scribe Sword nib.The feel: Love it!Initially I struggled a little in loving how the pen felt in my hand. The main body of the pen is relatively lightweight yet feels durable and solid. Like many fountain pens, the body is a bit shorter than other pen options. From my experience the body alone is about 3/4 the length of most other desk pens. The cap however changes the dynamic quite drastically. It adds that extra 1/4 to make the pen similar to other desk pens in regard to length. The major different here is that the cap is heavy and in addition to adding length, it adds weight that really gets more of a balance that feels appropriate for a fountain pen. Using the pen with the cap on the back is my preferred configuration; however there are times where the shorter length and lighter weight are refreshing and more appropriate.Writing Quality: Disappointing :-(Compared to other fountain pens, I found that getting ink to flow took quite a bit of effort. For comparison, the Kaweco Sport I have almost flowed on its own with no action on my part. This Scribe I had to flick for nearly two minutes to get ink splatter and begin writing. Ink flow in general seems intermittent. The writing angle seems extremely sensitive (more so than the other two pens I use) and even in a straight line drawing exercise the flow is inconsistent. Sometimes there are dry spots and then suddenly there are blotches. These aren't deal breakers and the pen remains usable, but are undesirable. Similar to a few other reviews I have experienced some ink bleeding between uses; however this seems similar to the writing experience where sometimes it happens and sometimes it does not. Storing the pen at different angles doesn't seem to impact when or where this behavior occurs. As on last comment, the other two brands I have used seem to perform best with a light touch. The intermittent behavior of the Scribe Sword extends to writing pressure. Rarely does ink flow with a light touch. More pressure than is desired needs to be applied in order to write and feels inconsistent with fountain pen norms. At the end of the day I probably would not buy this pen again. It is okay for the price; though I definitely prefer cheaper feeling pens with a better writing experience than a great feeling pen that isn't reliable.
