You say the saw isn't compatible with the st1400 track but the st1400 track is compatible with the saw. which one is it please

The R185CCSX or R185CCSX+ are compatible with the track. The R185CCS is not compatible with track. The product title needs to state an X to be track compatible.

No This does not have adjustable speed .

Is it feasible to use this to cut only 4mm off the side of a wooden door?

Definitely, set yourself up with a straight edge to press the saw base against, and cut off what you require. On my saw the blade edge is 32mm from one side of the base. It's a simple measure(twice!) And cut through your door. Measure the door thickness and set your blade depth to whatever it is plus 10mm. That way you will minimise tearing the door material.
