Can one be used to convert the signal from a bnc camera over coax cable to a poe security system?

PoE runs between 48 volts and 54 volts. All this device does is make PHYSICAL connections between the RJ-45 plug and the Baluns, routing the video over certain wire(s) and the power over others. It JUST passes the signal, without changing it at ALL. These devices MUST be used in PAIRS. So, while it is physically POSSIBLE to connect one of these to an analog camera at one end, and then the RJ-45 to a DVR or PoE switch at the other end, this setup WILL NOT WORK. These are ONLY for use in pairs, amd their purpose is to allow you to run CAT5/6 Ethernet cabling between the DVR and cameras, INSTEAD of having to run either Siamese cable, or BOTH coax and 12V/24V power. They are merely aid to make installation easier/less expensive.

How can i connect my old coax camera to the poe? so far not working.

These adapters are not for POE. They are not compatible nor will they work with POE. These adapters simply allow you to use a twisted pair ethernet cable in place of a coax w/ 18/2 for power for people that have existing ethernet runs or cable they want to utilize. They allow power to pass-thru adapter/cable from the source power supply near the DVR.

I purchased this and tried using my rj45 camera with a bnc dvr and cannot get a signal. is it the dvr firmware or is itjust not compatible?

This item only works to convert BNC cameras to cat5 or Cat6 cable then back to BNC to the DVR. If your camera has an RJ45 connector, it is an IP camera and requires an NVR not DVR.

2 questions. 1. does the balun draw any voltage? 2. are all 8 wires need from the cat6. i have one wire that is broken-wre# 5

1: It does draw voltage. I believe it sends it on two of the pairs. 2: According to my cable tester, it is using six of the eight wires. I believe it is the white-blue/green pair that it is not using, but I'm not 100% positive of that from memory.

Works as expected

No issues to date with this product. Easy plug and play. I connected a coaxial camera to my cat6 cable. The length is about 200 feet of cat 6 cable and no issues with the video quality. Time will tell if this will continue to work in the hot attic during the summer. I will update this review if there is any change.

Does the job on my cameras to connect via rj45, and the smaller flat cat5e cable was much easier to run.

Great to futureproof your investment

I had to replace some older BNC cables that had gone bad. I did not want to run more BNC cabling since I know that I will be switching to an IP system fairly soon. I ran Cat5e cable, terminated the ends and connected these Baluns and it worked plug and play. I think the video/audio quality from these runs are better than the atual BNC cable runs I still have. I bought a couple more so I can switch out the remaining BNC cables. I have a 4K analog DVR with 4K cameras and the image quality is just as good if not better than the older BNC cables. Don't waste your time running BNC cables in 2022. You will regret it when you will want to upgrade to an IP system.

Different than before

These are used I. Pairs and work great. Still have not located the old adapter that I purchased 7 years ago that I’d just the rj45 8 pin female to a Bnc and power connector. This works, after switching out some of the old style with a new pair of these. Picture is what I used to use. A pair of these that I bought recently takes the place of this one connector. The pair work great. Sold with 2 sets of 2 in each bag.

Complete BS doesn't work at all. After looking into it these are incapable of working unless you have unlimited budget. Poe data can not be transmitted across coaxial. Plugged in system could not detect. I know camera works and was powered up to because I even tried alternative power source. Now I got waste time returning this useless hunk of plastic waste of time and money.
