The Smurfs:Complete 3rd Season [DVD]

Defective release, but still Managable if you can look past it
So nice to have these DVD releases even if on region 2. But the release itself has other issues besides just that. As i mentioned in my review of season 2, there are no captions or subtitles available, but I still can understand most of what the characters say. Just the same, in this day and age to not include some form of caption or subtitling is sacrilege! The menu is a bit sub par also because if you want to select an episode, you need to scroll thru a separate submenu screen for each individual episode. If you remove the DVD, and want to find the episode you left off on, you have to scroll thru each screen of the episode youve already watched in order to find it; and there is no backward scrolling from the first episode submenu screen. Another annoyance is that the episode guide book that comes with the DVD, does not state which episodes are on what disk. You just have to count them yourself to figure out which disk they belong to.The only plus side to these region 2 smurf releases is that the picture and sound are well transferred (although not perfect), and that the very same description that is on the episode guide is also in the individual episode submenus. There is also a character guide book included in these releases, which is a nice touch though not too essential.Though this series is cheesy and repetitive at times, it still offers nice moral lessons worth pondering. I'm also experiencing some surprise at the fact that I have no recollection of Baby Smurf. I do remember the Yohan and Pee-Wee characters, though they still do not appear in this season. Maybe in the next season they will finally appear. That Pee Wee especially was a kick in the pants cause he looked like a giant smurf with human colored skin. I'll let you know if he appears in Season 4, that is, if I manage to make it to season 4...

Region 2, but good quality - just missing a few episodes
This set is missing a few episodes: E07 - Handy's Kite, E18 - Peewit Meets Bigmouth, E24 - The Grumpy Gremlin, E34 - The Moor's Baby, E44 - Wolf In Peewit's Clothing, and E56 - Smurfily Ever After. Still the transfer quality is good and since there are no Region 1 releases of this season, this is a great set to pick up if you can play region 2 discs.

Useless copy.
I didn't keep this being as it is I couldn't play it the DVD receiver. Its a useless copy & I was very disappointed when I found out this was imported & will only work in another country or however you want to put it.Surely (Warner Bros) has a copy somewhere or needs to make one that will play in the US!
