A proper whisky from Glenfiddich
A Glenfiddich with some oomph. It’s a very nice dram and shows what Glenfiddich can do if it dumps the 40% abv, without paying through the nose for a perpetual vat release.

Like being kissed by an angel
So I buy a bottle of single malt most weekends off Amazon... the best offer I can find! Treated myself this weekend and though discounted still paid a fiver more than I normally would! But I would have to say this is the best whisky I've tasted in a long long time!! If you like heavily peated or smoky it "might" not be for you but if you like a little of both and super smooth then this is your baby IMO!! Excellent A++++++++++++

Interesting variation
I first tried this when on holiday, and came away pleasently surprised. Glenfiddich is the juggernaut of the single-malt world of course (Glenfiddich were largely responsible for creating it), and familiarity sometimes breeds a degree of contempt amongst malt-fans that isn't really deserved. Because it's actually quite good. Where it runs into issues is simple [relatively] large-scale production: there's a quality malt in there that is fighting to get past maturation that out of necessity isn't perhaps as refined as it could be.This non-age-statement Fire & Cane is distinctively Glenfiddich, and a non-age-statement, using peated malt that's been run through the stills, then finished in rum casks. NAS is often a symbol for 'we've created this entry-level product to satisfy increased demand for the brand image'. Here -it's arguably a benefit. The peated whisky has clearly not been matured in the same way, and the different, fresher finishing has allowed more character to come through. There's still the distinctive Glenfiddich notes of pear, pine, softer orchard fruits, but the peated notes immediately make their presence known on the nose and palate. It's not as heavy as some Islay offerings (closer to a young Tallisker), and they don't overpower the usual flavours, but certainly add a unique twist on the brand's basic flavour profile. Additional complexity is provided by the rum casking -butterscotch, toffee, some tropical notes. It makes for a more complex, but well-knitted profile, with a medium-length finish. As a critique, like the signature 12yo and 15yo malts, the finish is perhaps the weakest part -it's far from bad, but a touch [a touch] of harshness can creep in here, even though the arrival and body are smooth.A good whisky then. Very good actually, and right now, I'd probably choose this over the 12yo -especially as it can sometimes be found for less money. It's a good twist on the signature profile, more complex but well-rounded and crafted, and arguably a little smoother, so don't let the lack of age statement put you off. I'd take it over quite a few others in its general price bracket, and have thoroughly enjoyed every drop so far. Recommended.

Love this whiskey
Just bought Fire & Cane again after trying it for the first time at Glenfiddich distillery. Tried it now back to back v’s Glenfiddich 18yo and I have to say I’d take Fire and Cane everytime. A stunning blend of smoke with some honey coming through. Compared to the £82 18yo I’d take Fire and Cane everytime

Marmite
This has to be the marmite of whisky. Now, I’m not a fan of peated/smokey whisky. The most I can tolerate is probably in the Highland Park territory. However, this has much more smoke than my palate would normally enjoy, but combined with its sweetness, it really becomes a game changer and I find I really like it. For what it’s worth, my brother isn’t a peated whisky lover either and but he hates this too.
