Works okay, but not for my face
This After Sun Face Relief Cooling & Moisturizing Gel by Solarcaine was purchased for an upcoming vacation. It will be good to use for my chest and back, but I doubt I will use it on my face.I won't use this product on my face because it contains dimethicone, which is a silicone based ingredient. Dimethicone forms a film on the skin to help keep moisture in, but it also does not seem to allow for bacteria and other icky things like excess sebum to escape, which causes my face to break out. In addition to that it also contains phenoxyethanol, which is a ethoxylated preservative. To make this chemical they use ethylene oxide, a known carcinogen, which can then contaminate the final product. In addition to that, the manufacturing of phenoxyethanol creates a toxic by-product called 1,4-dioxane, another carcinogenic ingredient that can potentially contaminate the final product. On the plus side, this formulation does include centella asiatica, ecotoin, and bisabol, all great ingredients for soothing, moisturizing and helping the moisture barrier to protect the skin. Since it is winter time now I have not been able to test this product in the sun, however I did use it for my rosacea flare up and it worked really well for that. When I get a flare up my face turns beet red in spots, and using this gel calmed my skin right down. All in all I think this is a decent sun relief gel, and will be happy to use it on areas other than my face. It is currently selling for $9.99, and I think that is a fair price for a 1.5 Oz tube by a well-known brand name.

Defective pump
While the face gel worked, the pump was. The little straw attachment inside the bottle came off and I had to unscrew the cap each time I wanted to use the product.

TSA Air Travel Size
I am in my late sixties and my days of laying out in the sun for hours are over. I have been pleased to see that society is more knowedgeable about connecting excess sun exposure to sun damage and so products are available that do not need lidocane to numb the pain of burning skin. I have used Solarcaine in years past when it contained lidocaine and when I often burned my skin. Today, I need a hydrating moisturizer after a little pool time in our hot, dry, but sunny climate. I orderedan approved TSA 1.5 ounce, air travel size of Solarcaine After Sun, Cooling Relief Face Gel from the the Solarcaine Store. Todays version of Solarcaine is Non-Greasy, Hypoallergenic, Fragrance-Free, and non-comedogenic. It contains some natural skin ingredients including centella asiatica leaf extract and panthenol. Infused with a blend of natural ingredients, this first-of-its-kind face gel is crafted to instantly cool, soothe, and hydrate sun stressed skin but its the hydration without clogging pores that is most important to me. I am pleased with this little tube of Solarcaine and can rate it as a 5 star product.

Much needed after a day in the sun
I’m sure it’s happened to everyone. Apply sunscreen and still come home from a day out with a burn. The Solarcaine after sun relief was a nice recovery at home. It instantly cools and helps lessen the appearance of redness. Had no skin irritation and have used this multiple times. Would recommend.

Slight cooling effect, agrees with my skin.
I got this Solarcaine after-sun cooling gel to use during the summer after long runs when it is hotter and I get a bit more sun exposure. Of course, it is important to always wear sunscreen and this is not a replacement for that.As it is currently winter and I haven't had as much sun exposure, I fortunately have not had any sunburns or excess sun exposure to be able to test it in that way. However, I tried it on my unaffected skin and found it to be agreeable with my skin. It does have a slight cooling effect that I can imagine would feel relieving if my skin were sun-irritated.
