A beautifully illustrated book
This is by far the best Geronimo Stilton book! Granted, my daughter and I have only read a few others, but this story has such detailed and amazing illustrations and is a delight to read. The hardback version makes it feel like it's a really special book, the kind of book you want to curl up with on a cold, rainy day, and sit and read from cover to cover. The adventures will probably capture the imaginations of both girls and boys as Geronimo travels through the kingdom of the witches, mermaids, pixies, fairies, giants, gnomes and dragons. In typical Geronimo style, the text explodes off the page, making it even more engaging for early readers to read. The general writing style of Geronimo isn't the greatest. He makes a lot of cheese puns and changes a lot of words to try to fit cheese words into them, ex mousetacular instead of spectacular. That can be a little annoying after awhile, but the pros of the rest of the book make up for it. In any case, I found The Kingdom of Fantasy had better writing then usual. If you like most of the Geronimo books, then you should like this one even more. If you don't like most of the Geronimo books, give this one a try. You might be surprised. It really was a joy to read. My 6 year old absolutely loved it and wouldn't put it down, even after she finished it. As I said, the illustrations are so nice, it's one of those books you want to flip through over and over again.I highly recommend The Kingdom of Fantasy. I think you and your children will enjoy the lush story as well as the stunning artwork! It is truly a delightful book in every sense of the word!!!!

A bit disappointing
As someone who had the chance to read the original Italian version, I find the English translation quite lacking by comparison. I expected to have in my hands the same book just in a different language to pass the amazing experience of reading it to someone who doesn't know Italian. To be fair the main part of the story itself has been carefully translated, but the features like the perfumed pages and the fun activities at the end have been completely eliminated. The children I gave it to are still enjoying it, however I feel like there was no necessity to take away the additional features.
