I would say no more than a 12 -15lb dog tops

Would this be too hot in the south during the summer? I have a small schnauzer and would hate for her to overheat.

I have a schnauzer Scotty mix13 pounds. She fits great and there window vents to get air.and the top opens. She rides on my harley with breaks about every 30-to 45 minutes. She does fine fourth year now. We live in Orlando, Fla. We love ours.

I get the part about tightening the straps & collapsing the bag, but that would only apply to when using the higher-up strap-connections, right?

When using mine I use the underseat mount that’s always on my bike and attach the carrier to that using the lowest rings on the carrier and there is NO collapsing... I have logged Thousands of miles with my Chihuahua.
