Useful product but needs inprovement.
Toner works great, light meter needs to be set so it doesn't change settings.

A Pretty good Network Cable tester
At first, things were a little confusing as the menu system on the cable tester does not perfectly align with the instructions in the manual. Note that for the NF-859GT (what I am reviewing) is the last tester in the manual on page 28.Things I tested with their corresponding results:1. "user alignment" test AKAs "cont" on the menu. This will test that your cable is built properly. You can test it locally (on either device) or test it between devices for runs in your home/business. This function seem to work fine.2. "Scan" test AKA "wire detection" is the test used to find the other end of a cable. You plug the network cable into the "SCAN" port on the main device and then you use the probe device to find the other end of the cable. It has 2 modes (digital and analog). Both worked as expected.3. "Flash" test aka "port blinking" in the manual. This test will cause the port in your switch to blink. It worked just fine on my switch (see picture)4. "Length" aka "network line length test" in the manual. This is supposed to test the cable length. I tried it on a 15 foot CAT6 cable I have and it measured 17.5'. So not accurate at least in my testing.5. POE test - this checks the voltage coming out of a POE switch. It worked fine (see attached picture)6. "QC Test" aka crimping test in the manual - This tests your crimps. It works fine.7. OPM - I do not have optical so unable to test8. VFL - I do not have optical so unable to testThere are a few quirks as you can see but overall, I think it does what it says and worth consideration if you are in the market for this type of tester.

Accurate and easy to use.
Great tool for testing CAT5 or Ethernet cable in general. I am a network technician and installing network equipment is part of the job. This tool is very helpful for testing cable and making sure that it works before setting up the equipment. It just makes the job a lot easier than having to plug in and test each cable to make sure it is working.

Works as good as the more expensive testers at a fraction of the cost.
Amazed at how well this inexpensive tester works.Testing for continuity, cable length, quality of crimps. Very easy to use.I would like to have a lc-lc interface for the fiber functionality.Absolutely worth the cost and mire
