This thing smokes!
Prior to this unit I owned two from another company, their last one hardly produced smoke. I've smoked fish and steaks on this East Oak and it produces smoke, both were outstanding meals. It was very well packaged and there was no damage. The unit feels very solid and retains heat well. The drip pan system works better than the one from that other company. The seals are better. The controller is simple. Only assembly was adding the optional legs (solid and a nice add-on) and putting in a few shelves. The window is nice, never had one before. Will recommend this unit over other ones. Looking forward to smoking turkey at thanksgiving agin.

East Oak smokers make it easy and fun
I recently got the smoking big and the East Oak electric smoker was the perfect smoker for me! It was incredibly easy to set up and get running. The digital controls are intuitive, and the temperature holds steady, which gave me the confidence to smoke my first-ever brisket. The results were incredible—juicy, tender, and with that perfect smoky flavor I was hoping for. What really sets this company apart, though, is their customer service. I had a small problem with the meat thermometer and when I reached out, the support team was not only prompt but also incredibly helpful and friendly. They quickly sent me a replacement thermometer and followed-up to make sure it arrived and was working properly. It’s clear that they genuinely care about their customers' experience.I highly recommend the East Oak electric smoker to anyone, whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete beginner like me. You won't be disappointed!

Great First Time
Up date: I accidentally missed a rack for the smoker. Customer service is responded and taking care of me. I also ordered the stand legs that came with two wheels. **** Came boxed and and pack extremely well. No damage. I was surprised it was not as heavy as it looks which is a good thing for me. Easy to move around and sturdy.Did my first smoke using chicken thighs. Came out great. From warm up to final cook was 3.5 hours. Using apple wood chips about 3/4 full in the firebox still plenty of smoke. I think I could have gone a couple of more hours with out filling the firebox. Very surprised. I am sure different woods burn at different rates. To make clean up easier. I took two small aluminum SHEET pans that fit the depth of the rack and was just over half the width, place one on a bottom rack over the fire box. I then staggered another on the next rack up on the opposite side. I then placed the thighs on a third rack. Worked out great. Smoke could still circulate. Easy peasy clean up. The aluminum sheet pans about 12x 8 in. or so, only have a 1 inch or so edge on them.

Works well for hot smoking.
This smoker would be ideal for the average person wanting to smoke meats at temperatures above 235 degrees. Although the temperature range is capable of doing jerky the smoke generated is wholly insufficient to produce flavorful meats at low temperatures. Airflow at jerky temperatures is also inadequate to properly dry your meat. Condensation buildup keeps it too moist requiring much more time to process it. The time difference between this smoker and my other smoker is almost double. As for construction this smoker is built well. The door seals prevent smoke from escaping around the edges which means less cleaning is required to keep it looking good. The probe on mine is only one degree off my manual probe which is great. The one thing that I don’t really like as far as quality construction is the drop pan because it feels cheap and sits at an angle making it stand out when looking at it.Overall it’s a nice machine for the family who just wants to make delicious and convenient set and forget meals.

Customer Service Sold Me
East OakThe unboxing and set up process was quick and easy. I took the advice from others leaving reviews and made sure I took the piece of foam packing hidden at the top of the smoker door. I also cleaned the inside with soap and water and seasoned with oil. After burning the chemicals off I placed a pan of water and wood chips along with a thermo pro thermometer.I chose the model without the window because I think it will lose more heat in the winter time and the glass would be high maintenance to clean. The drip pan system was well thought out, A majority of the drippings collect in the water pan and the remainder funnels down to the main pan below.I do not like that pan below is not secure when rolling around.I had an issue with rolling the smoker forward, it seemed like it was dragging so I centered the cotter pins and the wheels now roll smoothly. The smoker arrived with NO damage to its shell as others have complained about. The water pan seems to be small in comparison to my Brinkmann.I like that the vent is on the side and far from the control board, the wood chip holder is a nice size and easy to access without opening the smoker. There is a 3 year warranty if you register in 90 days. I have yet to see replacement parts for this unit sold online like other sell I.E. ; Control board, heating element, thermostat or replacement shelves(Thats a minus).Overall this is a very good smoker. The issue I had with mine was the temperature was off 30 to 40 degrees in comparison to my Thermo Pro Probe. I reached out to customer service (after I set up my warranty) and they got back to me quickly. Customer service explained that their engineers use a NTC thermostat NOT an instant read thermometer and that is the reason why the temperature was way off. The NTC probe averaged temperature over time. My old Brinkmann electric smoker had an analog thermometer that matched the temperature of my Thermo Pro. For now I will lower the temperature on the smoker to match my external temperature probe and see what happens.****UPDATE**** August 15, 2024I smoked 2 racks of baby back ribs a few days ago and have a totally different feeling about this smoker. I originally tested the smoker with NO food items in the smoker and the temperature was way off. With food in the smoker the temp was opposite to my thermo pro initially then the temperature on the east oak and thermo pro were within 10 +/- degrees. The smoker never hit the target temp I set it to but it hovered 5 degrees below the target temperature.I had a Brinkmann electric smoker before this one.The wattage was 1600W and the smoker would never get above 225 degrees. This unit is 800w and is well insulated and moves well above that. I only filled the water pan 1/2 way to make room for drippings.I am really starting to like this smoker.****Update 2/5/2025******I smoked a brisket in single digit weather a few weeks ago. After a long night I checked my brisket to see if the bark had set . I have my smoker on top of a table for easy access and noticed a lump of frozen ice beneath the table. I narrowed the issue down to the door seal and contacted East Oak and heard back from them within a few days. They asked for pictures of the issue and I complied. The following days after I submitted the pictures I was notified the replacement was on the way. This is a new company in the smoker business and I would have to say the customer service is SUPERIOR to any other business I have dealt with in the past year. They listen to the customers issues, make right by taking care of their customers and make improvements on the smoker based upon customer feedback.I original review was 3 stars I believe, then bumped it up to 4. I now feel this is a 5 star smoker based on the customer experience and their willingness to fix what is not working properly with the smoker.
