I have elusively used the F-701 for years, I switched to FxMd when they came to market.
I have exclusively used two writing instruments for years, the Staedtler Mars techno 2mm clutch pencil and the Zebra F-701. In 2018 when Zebra released the FxMD I slowly replaced all my F-701s, they were starting to look old and tatty. The F-701 and FxMD in my opinion is the perfect pen, strong and reliable, comfortable with a nice weight and cheap. I actually like using the Zebra F Refills, I find them very smooth and last me well. Although, I do swap out the refills for Fisher refills in the pens I use for site visits and outdoor tasks.I believe that the FxMD is the perfect pen for everyday carry and use. Especially for those that work in environments outside of the office; however, they are equally at home in the office.

Good quality pen for the price!
This is a very nice pen! - It has a quality "feel" about it, and it writes very smoothly. I like the understated, all stainless steel construction, and the knurling at the pointy end - where one would normally grip the pen in use.Even though it is made from stainless steel, it is still very lightweight, and completely unnoticeable when carried in a pocket. The pocket clip functions well, and keeps the pen wherever you've clipped it.This particular pen replaces the Zebra F701 model, which has been a long-time favourite by "every day carry" aficionados, as such pens could, if it came to the crunch, also be used as a self defence tool. - They are certainly constructed well enough!!!Overall, it just gives that unquantifiable "nice to use" sort of feeling that certain items seem to do. - A great pen for the price.

Truly excellent
My oldest Zebra pens and pencils are more than 30 years old and still work brilliantly. This F-xMD is a visual improvement over the F701. It feels the same, which is great, but it looks better due to the complete steel barrel instead of having that small bit of plastic on the top of the F701.Zebra refills are very good but you can install alternative refills including a Space-Pen refill (NOT recommended by me) if you wish. You can even fit the superb Uni refills if you create a collar out of sticky-tape for the return-spring to press against. If the steel was thicker I may well use one as my prime ball-pen instead of my expensive 'Wingback'. The 'Wingback' looks very similar but feels much nicer because of the extra weight. This is not a criticism of the F-xMD which is excellent in use and great value for money.I highly recommend it.

Overall great pen, best when combined with Zebra F Refills.
This pen is very nice. It's a stainless steel simplistic design with a diamond pattern grip and a deep satisfying click. It's weighty, which I happen to enjoy in a pen. It's very affordable and will last you a lifetime if taken care of. I've used it for a year, and I have not regretted my purchase. There are some cons however.- It's not an all metal pen as described due to the black plastic interior, however that's understandable as the pen would be unwieldy otherwise.- It's stock cartridge is a plastic Zebra tube that writes okay, but I took the liberty of upgrading mine to a metal jacket with nicer ink.- The clip can bend, and is a troublesome little creature to bend back. Just don't use the clip if you value your sanity.- It can be a pain to clean this pen, especially the diamond grip. I suggest using rubbing alcohol and a paintbrush for that part.- You may get assorted objects thrown at you for obsessively clicking this thing over and over in the office. Results may vary. How to remove the sticker:On arrival, it has a sticker that some have had issues removing entirely. There is a way to remove it without causing damage and it's relatively easy. Simply peel off the sticker, and you'll be left with some residue. DO NOT use DW40 to remove the residue as it may damage the finish. Instead, use a cloth and rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer (an item we all now have plenty of). This should remove it all cleanly.Fix for scratchy clicker:If your pen clicker starts sounding a little scratchy (If you hold the thing up to your ear like me; a total lunatic) try opening the thing up, taking the cartridge and spring out and giving it a tiny squirt of DW40 into where the pointy end would be. Let it seep into the mechanism a little bit, then turn it back the right way up and let it stand on a towel to drain for a bit. Reassemble, and it should be pleasantly smooth and clicky. If it sounds wet, it did not dry enough, let it drain some more.

Great writing pen from zebra.
I watched a few reviews by you tubers on this pen, I was impressed by them and bought accordingly., Also bought the fisher space pen refill(a hack recommend by several you tubers) Price is amazing below £6.00. but the thing that has impressed me most is how well it writes with the zebra refill. Doesn't skip or blob and writes smoothly without scratchiness. At this price and how it writes may move me away from goto Lamy safari with a Monteverde refill....update this is now my EDC pen. It's feel in the hand is spot on. The knurled grip section is perfect and I purchased 3 pens and one is now fitted with the fisher space pen refill, which also writes extremely nicely.

Classic EDC pen. Solid Upgrade from F701.
These are my favourite pens. I've been using its predecessor the F701 for the last 5 years. The F-XMD is the updated version of the F701. It is now an all steel design and performs very well. It is very reliable and never once have I had a failure with the mechanism or problems with the design. The knurled end deserves a special mention as it provides a good amount of grip and prevents your fingers from slipping when writing. The pen is perfectly balanced for long periods of writing. I have never had any problems with staining or rusting in all the years that I've used the F701 and do not believe that the F-XMD will have any issues either. It uses standard zebra refills which are fine but also Fisher refills which although better, are more expensive. This pen is a classic and is highly recommended.
