Hi, thanks for your question! Exactly, the groundsheet is designed to specifically fit the outline of the tent. It is meant to be a reinforcement of the regular tent floor in case you are planning to camp in particularly wet climates or rough terrain (for example on rocks). The regular tent floor is strong enough to withstand most use cases. However, the additional groundsheet is a great idea in case you need extra protection. Each corner of the groundsheet has a toggle which connects to a corner point of the air frame to keep the sheet in place. That way the groundsheet becomes part of the tent unit and can simply stay attached when packing up and rolling out the tent. I hope this was helpful to you.
