Great Ice Machine
We had the older version of this machine. As with many things. It couldn't last for ever. We decided to purchase this one. It fits nicely under the counter and makes ice pretty quickly. If you like small marble sized ice cubes. This is the machine for you

DO NOT BUY! BLACK MOLD FORMS WEEKLY
Gross dirty black stuff after one week of use. I have to clean this out weekly with abrasive scrubbers because black stuff forms everywhere. It’s probably mold. I have used all the ice maker cleaners posible. It is also extremely loud as it runs. It does make ice quickly but it’s so hard to clean because it’s very heavy and needs to be cleqned constantly, definitely NOT WORTH IT! BUYER BEWARE.

Great customer service from seller.
I highly recommend Homelabs customer service! It is top notch! The same day I contacted them about a problem I had, my replacement was processed! Now that is great service. Thank you Homelabs!!

Ongoing Issues not Addressed - Do Not Recommend for Cost
Works amazingly for about 6-8 months, then it starts spitting out tiny chunks of plastic in the ice making cycle and mixes into the made ice. We had replaced our initial unit that is now experiencing the exact same issue, plastic chunks made in the cycle and mixed into the made ice, as the original unit. Spoke concern to customer service they were prompt to replace the first unit as we were under warranty. Now that our replacement has failed with the same issue roughly 6 months later we are being told to purchase a new unit with a 20% discount as our original warranty has expired so that a new warranty can startup and if that unit inevitably fails we can get a free replacement. This seems to be a known ongoing issue with a poor solution/business model in place for the customers. Correct the issue or change the price to reflect that you will get a new ice maker every 6-12 months based on performance.

Trouble with machine, but Homelabs' customer service is great.
Even though the ice maker is loud and clunky, I loved the ice. However, after nine months of usage, I am finding pieces of black and white plastic in the bin today. I contacted HomeLabs, and they are happily shipping me a new machine. Thanks for being so gracious.

Homelabs no longer makes or supports this product, so why is it still for sale?
Needed to use this 'protection' after my ice maker tray shattered, leaving black pieces of plastic and teflon in the ice. Asurion has been fighting me on my claim for two weeks now, claiming 'Hard Water Stains' are causing the problem.Asurion cannot point to a single piece of material, instruction, or service procedure, that gives any amount of notice that using anything but distilled water may void any warranty claims. Even the ice maker's manufacturer 'Homelabs' made silly claims about "water with a hardness over 12 may require more frequent cleanings", even though this sort of statement also cannot be found in any instructions.Machine looks pretty clean to me!!! Minimal hard water stains, especially after 22 Months of use.Asurion refers to the contract bullet points ofE. WHAT IS NOT COVERED• Damage caused by misuse, abuse, willful or intentional conduct; (and)• Cost of preventative maintenance and damages caused by improper preventative maintenance. As if hard water and not cleaning often enough will cause the failure I experienced. It seems that I got lucky that my machine even lasted 22 months, where others have theirs fail in the exact same manner in under 6 months.I paid for 24 months of warranty, I'm going to get it.

It works and it's great.
It's pretty heavy-so be aware of placement. We have a "bar area" where it will be placed in our home. Keep in mind that you may want to be near a sink due to cleaning maintenance. As with most counter top ice makers, there is no connected water source-you have to pour in about 8 cups (2 liters) for a full drawer of ice.I've let it run overnight on the kitchen counter (it's fan is noisy & output is pretty warm) and results are great.NUGGET ICE in abundance! I've package up the ice & threw it in the freezer. Use the provided ice tray if you plan to leave it in the drawer. Not recommended for overnight - ICE WILL MELT.Keep it mind: it's an ice maker-not a freeze.I do not recommend for outdoor use. Best for indoor cocktail bar setup. And the nugget ice is great!!!

DON'T BUY. Brakes after 4 months of usage
DO NOT BUY.. DO NOT BUY.I brought this machine back in july 2024. 4 months later in November 2024 the machine had to be replace because the part that spins to move the ice or break up the ice is broken. I sent pics and the machine was replaced in November. Now here we are 4 months again March 2025 and it's broken yet again same issue. I email customers support and pretty much told that the seal has reach the end of its service life (like what) so the machine breaks every 4 months?.. Now I am going back and forth the customer support ... horrible
