How much weight can it bear?

The Eye Straps can support lots of weight. I have plants in ceramic pots hanging on mine. I would estimate each 12 inch pot with soil and a plant comes to around 20 lbs. I would think the screws would be the weakest link. I used longer screws to install mine. I bought some 1.5 inch stainless screws, and they worked perfect.
