Users at my company love the new style dock
Users at my company love the new style dock. Having the dock built into the Monitor stand saves a lot of desk space and allows them to use the laptop display in addition to the external monitor. (Always an option in the past, but connecting with the USB-C cable allows a mot more freedom over the old style dock.)

Power Plug Missing
The power plug is missing in the package that came direct from Dell.

Works well until there is a small power blip
We have about 10 of these and then another 20 of Dells WD-15 docks. Overall both work well but the issue is when there is a small power blip we have to unplug most of these, wait a few seconds, and plug them back in before they start working again. We don't have the same issue with the WD-15's which we have started to use instead of these.

Works as expected; USB cable and ports are all on the left side
I didn't have any trouble assembling the stand, although I agree with the other reviewers that it's stupid that it doesn't already come assembled.I like the concept of the combined charger/dock/monitor stand and the DS1000 functions as expected with my Latitude 7480. However, the USB cable is hard-wired on the left side and fairly short. All the ports are also on the left side, including the ports on the back (I'm guessing the power supply circuitry takes up the right side). So positioning may be problematic depending on how your desk and laptop are arranged. The monitor pillar does not rotate, unlike the stand included with my old Dell monitor. Also, the left-side USB ports are recessed for some reason, making it hard to see where they are and causing larger devices to get blocked.

Worked as expected
Really cleaned up my desktop in my home office. Much fewer cables exposed.

Worthless Dock
3 weeks after getting this dock to replace another, it failed in the exact same manner its predecessor did. The displayport cable suddenly ceased to function. All other aspects of the dock remained in working order, but the display was black. The computer recognized that there was a monitor there, and it still attempted to extend the screen to it, but it would not display anything. The monitor would state "no signal from DP" and enter power save mode. Extremely frustrated with this product line, and will not purchase another DS1000. Would recommend avoiding this product.

Sort of the face of the future - turning lightweight compact computers into full bore desk machines.
With the advent of capable Intel Core M and lower power Intel i-Core CPUs and USB Type C, we’re seeing laptops in new compact forms. Many of these very light-weight, but fully-capable laptops (and variants) have relatively small screens. This could limit their usefulness with productivity applications in an office or home business setting. The lack of connectivity n many of these compact laptops can also be a problem.Enter this clever monitor stand and dock.It will handle any VESA mount equipped monitor, offers a wide array of USB and other ports and connects to the computer with a single Type C connector. It’s really docking made easy.It provides mounting for dual displays and two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, rear speaker output, a combo audio port and a Gigabit Ethernet port – everything you need for attaching external keyboards, mice, hard drives, speakers and so on.Graphic instructions are included and assembly isn’t difficult. This mount is on the large side, which is to be expected, and feels quite solid and secure.I set it up for my significantly better half using a 12 inch Core M based laptop and a 24 inch Dell display. It’s fast enough for her needs and the 24 inch monitor makes ir a pleasure to work with instead of the smaller screen.Neat stuff.Jerry
