These are much better than the twine supplied with Ryobi strimmers but the blades break or fly off if you get too close to something hard like concrete, stone or even plastic pipes.They are highly effective on anything plant-based and just slice through weeds, tall grass and even SMALL bushes like lavender. Non- Ryobi blades are available for 1p each if you the bulk bags of 100 and you’ll need them if you want to use it like a strimmer wire but if you’re careful the blades last a good while.

I added this to my Ryobi strimmer instead of replacing the line spool. Fits straight on and snaps in place of the line cover. The little plastic blades snap on and although they can wear quite quickly, there are cheap blades to buy on Amazon available. The cover does comes with 10 blades to get you going. I have large front and back lawns approx. 2,000m2 so get through a set of two with the edging, weed whacking etc. each time. Occasionally one may fly off if worn down, but the noise changes and you can tell instantly. The strimmer sounds like a mini helicopter when you first start and they cut through the hardiest of weed. Throughly recommend making the change from the thin line.

Works extremely well with the Ryobi strimmer

I bought this to clear up thick weeds and high grass around a community path. The plastic blades worked well. If they come in contact with stones, hidden stumps, etc they will snap and after a while they will wear down. This isn't a problem as they are disposable and if you take care you'll get a decent amount of time out of them. This is an inexpensive addition which extends the power of the Ryobi strimmer. It can't compete with a bladed petrol strimmer but is good value and worth getting. I haven't tried cheap generic blades but even paying for Ryobi blades isn't overly expensive. Easy to install and well made but it's listed as heavy duty and I don't think that's true . If the blade catches anything tougher than grass or daisy's the blade shatters .

Didn’t last as long as I had hoped but cut the tougher weeds down well.Need to buy a supply of blades as it only came with a few sets.
