Works Surprisingly Well, on Huge Hybrid King
I had a mattress to return after a home trial, as the mattress wasn’t a good fit for us. It was a massive 14 inch thick hybrid (springs and foam) that weighted a ton. We got it upstairs back when it was in a box, but getting down the stairs was proving impossible in its re-inflated state. It was too big to fit through our narrow stairway. By like 2ft. Even the movers gave up.We gave this vacuum bag a try before calling the movers again. It worked surprisingly well ! Putting it on wasn’t too bad with two people, and a regular $100 upright Bissel Carpet Vacuum was able to shrink the size about 50% in 15 minutes. It compressed enough that we could fold it, and then, with some of the straps included in the package doubled up, we were able to fold it like a hard shell taco and then slide it down the stairs. Success ! Got it down there with minimal damage. For our purposes, it was perfect. We removed the bag and let it re-inflate once in the first floor as it would fit fine in the big mover’s truck. However, there is no doubt that this bag is pretty delicate. It worked for us, but we only had it in use probably for an hour. I would expect it to rip with even moderate pressure or poking. I think if I was planning to vacuum bag the mattress, and then transport or store it somewhere a long distance, I would buy several ratchet straps and put them all over it in its compressed state. That way when the bag inevitably does start to reinflate/rip, the straps will keep it more compressed and manageable. Just be careful with the ratchet straps metal pieces on the delicate bag. I wouldn’t expect this bag to maintain compression, without straps, for more than 24 hours. Even in our short window of an hour, I was seeing it start to slowly reinflate a tiny bit before I put the (included) doubled-up (length) straps on. The straps helped slow that significantly.

Mattress Vacuum Bag is Perfect
When I was looking to move my queen-sized Nectar mattress, I was initially going to create a large vacuum bag of my own. Out of curiosity, though, I did a search and found this product. I read the reviews and opted to take the plunge. So, before using this product you MUST have a clear space which has been cleaned/swept/vacuumed, to prevent any damage. Secondly, I would suggest either trimming one’s nails and/or wearing gloves, just to be preventive. The plastic is very thick, unlike what some have said. It’s a similar thickness to that of Space Bags. I advise the gloves and cut nails because this bag, through the process of putting the bag onto the mattress and handling, cannot have any finger tips potentially piercing. That’s just common sense.I used my Ryobi stick vacuum to pull the air out. It took about 35 minutes and three 4a batteries. A tip if using a stick vac, put a nickel under the tip of the vacuum, against the air port. This shim allows the vacuum to work longer without shutting off for overheating, or the clog safety mechanism kicking in.After getting the air out, I rolled it from side to side. I did it by myself, but this tales patience and weight to roll. I’d suggest two to four people. As mentioned above, avoid using fingertips and/or wear gloves. As a preventative measure, I purchased a carpet storage bag for 9x12 carpets, with a 26” opening. I got this to further protect the vacuum bag. It fit perfectly.I’m very satisfied and would recommend. The thickness of the material provides good rip resistance. The zipper is heavy duty, just like Space Bags. The bag creates good protection against water and dirt. The keys to this protect are: 1. Be patient and methodical. 2. Be vigilant with handling. Just like anything that gets dragged or abraded, it will get damaged. 3. Make sure the area you’re going to vacuum your mattress is clear and clean. 4. Call in some friends. 5. Use common sense.

Don’t use your household vacuum. PERIODT.
I purchased this to vacuum seal an enormous bean bag (6ft diameter) to return it back to wayfairer. Side note: unless you live in a mansion with gigantic rooms, a 6ft round bean bag WILL be too big. Also It weighs like 1000 lbs. And when you realize, “damn this thing is wayyy to big”, you will be charged $68 to send it back. And you WILL have to spend your own $ to get a vacuum seal bag for a mattress, to get it back in the box, to return it. But that’s besides the point…..DO NOT USE YOUR HOUSEHOLD VACUUM. I read this in another review. They said their vacuum overheated and is basically trash now. And I thought “nah, won’t happen”. Well, it almost happened. Within 4 minutes there was a “Wait….what’s that smell?? Oh lord Jesus it’s a fiiuuuurrreee!” moment. Thankfully we caught it before it was too late. So, just don’t use a household vac, EVEN IF THE BOX SAYS IT IS OKAY! We used my husbands shop vac. The hose from our household vac kinda fit on the end of the shop vac hose and we were able to make it work. But, even the shop vac got hot. We gave it a break every couple of minutes.Overall, this was a pretty legit vacuum bag! We didn’t have any issues sealing it. Rolling it up was a beyotch. And getting the straps to not loosen up was a bit tricky. You’ll need at least a dynamic duo of people to get the job done. I wish I had a video of the process. A lot of sweating. The sped up clip in the review makes it look so easy, but I don’t know. Our experience could also be because we were dealing with a bean bag and not a mattress. Godspeed and good luck.
