Very engaging STEM toy.
I am always for lookout of great educational toys for my kids and to gift other kids as well. And this one is for sure perfect to gift 6-12 years olds. Even my 3 yo enjoyed watching me and my 6 yo put it together. Instructions were good and when we stepped out to check out its solar function, I was as overjoyed as both kids. Its a very efficient STEM toy to teach a lot of science concept to kids according to their age. It can be played outdoor having solar panel and indoor as well using battery.

Fantastic Gift!
This was the perfect gift to give my daughter for her birthday! She was so excited to have something awesome to build of her own, which quickly made her brother’s jealous. (I hope there are other cars vehicles from this maker!) She felt a huge sense of accomplishment after getting this built. This item has many small pieces, so I recommend to build it where little ones are not able to get to it. This could be a challenge for younger children so I personally think it is a great opportunity to spend time together in building it. This is made from sturdy plastic.

Requires adult assistance
This product says 6-12 yrs, but realistically, you need an adult involved in each step, if only because the instructions are extremely vague. "Mounting the reducer into the box" is step 1. There are pictures, but they're not color coded or exact to specifications, so unless you are familiar with these types of projects, it'll be a little difficult to determine what goes where. Also, most of the pieces come from a single plastic mold sheet and require punching out as well as carefully trimming off any lingering plastic burrs (yes, that's a necessary step and in the instructions). My son managed to snap apart one of the tire treads trying to punch it out, so I ended up gluing it on the wheel. Works fine.Overall, the rover is well designed and securely snaps together. We built it on a cloudy day, so my son was thrilled that it has backup batteries so we could still test it out.

Great for bonding time
I got this solar car for my child to build with my brother. It was a great way for them to bond! You absolutely have to be meticulous with instructions as it can be difficult if you miscount the links or miss a step. The battery is also NOT rechargeable. However, it runs solar or with battery. It was a fun and great STEM project for the kiddo. I definitely would recommend this to anyone with kids.

More difficult than it says
I gifted this to my 10 year old nephew but he wasn't able to do it on his own, he and his grandpa worked on it and grandpa had to use some hot glue guns to make some of it work because it apparently is missing pieces and the instructions aren't clear and all the pieces aren't present! If that's OK, then yes, my nephew LOVED it once it was working and would use his hand to block the solar panels to make it stop. He loved seeing that work! But according to them, the instructions refer to pieces that aren't shipped to get things to fit together that otherwise don't. So I would not recommend this unless figuring out bad instructions is part of the fun for your giftee.

Easy to assemble for young kids. Expandable for older ones.
It is an easy enough toy to put together for younger kids. The induction is straight forward and frustration free. The assembled car itself is fun to play with.I also like it because the structure is pretty strong, which means you can expand it on top of it. I think it would be easy to add a microcontroller and some sensors. The car itself is strong enough for the added parts. You also have two power sources, solar and battery, for both the motor and added electronics.

Great idea, failed execution
I spent a few hours putting this together with my 10 year old daughter, and that was fun. The instructions were not perfect, there were a number of mistakes, some bad translations that had us scratching our heads, and pictures that were at times unclear and at other times just wrong. It was a bit of a learning experience with her, thinking through that type of situation, but in the end we only had to go backwards a step 3 times and were able to get the entire build completed properly. To this point, I would have given it 4 stars, dropping one for the confusing build instructions. However, in the end, we got to the reveal, where we would plug in the battery and solar panel, flip the switch, and watch everything we’d just done and all the explanations is given to her in action. So we flipped the switch, and.... .... nothing. We double checked everything was good, still nothing. I pulled out a multimeter, verified the battery was good, verified power flow from the solar panel when light was applied, all good there. I verified the wiring, verified connection through the motor, through the switch, all good. I put the multimeter in serial with the battery and the switch and the motor, and saw power flowing the full path, so I know everything was connected, know power was going through the motor, and know there were no shorts. We then wired the battery straight to the motor, still nothingBasically, the motor just didn’t work. Power passed through it, and expected impedance occurred, but it didn’t DO anything. So in the end, we spent a few hours together, which was great, but only came away with a very mechanical paperweight and some mild disappointment. :(
