Good quality
So far so good! I bought this because I usually buy a different one but from the same manufacturer so I thought this wouldn't be a huge change for my dogs. It has been great so far. No change in digestion or their stool, so everything seems to be fine. This is a huge size bag (40lb) and I think the price is good for this quality of dog food.

Great "gas producing" food
Update: Our dog, after 4 months on this food, gained healthy amount of weight - more masculine than ever. He now weighs full 85 lbs (good weight for a male American Doberman). He still does put his gas traps everywhere in the house but it is less frequent, his #2 is smooth and solid as a chocolate banana. Great food. Great price.Made my dog's stool loose on Day 1 and 2, and he has become the Lethal Weapon of the empire since the day this food landed in his stomach. He has always been Caustic and the most notorious Caustic ever existed - You know what I mean if you play Apex Legends. My husband and I truly fear for our lives when he sleeps next to our bed with the windows closed. But fortunately, we have our 4 feline gods come and go during the night, and they keep the door open and let the toxic gas escape from our sleeping chamber. Our doberman is turning 3 this winter (January 2020). Very young, very active. Fast eater of the wet food. Hater of the dry food. Breaker of cat thrones. Slightly disoriented Furrmissile. He has a slow eating bowl to avoid toxic gas leakage. He has food sensitivity and we cannot speak of his childhood without Metronidazole (for canine IBS. Not for vagina.) and canned pumpkin purée. He eats what is given but remains on the skinny side. He also has some skin issues around his ears. We tried a few different brands, tried what we were told "healthy diets (grain-free, high protein etc)“ but it was always hard because of his sensitive stomach and disturbingly finicky eating habit he acquired from watching and living with our feline gods. With this food, we want him to put on weight and see the skin issues improve. We shall wait and see in the next month or 2 if the results will show. But so far, he has actually shown interest in this dry food without topper, which is great. We are always very careful when switching food, and yes, as I mentioned earlier, this product made him absolutely explosive. He hates bathing unlike his predecessor. So when he gets out of the tub, once towel dried, he literally jumps up in the air and oofs "I'm a free man!" That was the third shower in this food switch transition. He was holding his loose bomb in his arse when he was in the shower. He then went and jumped into the living room as a free man to celebrate his freedom with a fellow free man, my spouse who sat there in his chair, unaware of what was to come. How I wished the Mother of Dragons would fly into our deck, and let her Drogon burn the place down to ashes for me. I had no explanations ready for our landlord. But then I knew I was destined to review the Clorox Clean + Bleach. And to provide honest reviews, one must always use the product in real life.Anyhow, after the several explosions in and outside of the house, his system adjusted well to the food by the time he was 100% on it. And again, he has sensitive stomach. This happens every time we switch food. But may not happen to your good fluffy child/ren.But the gas. Oh boy. We thought we were used to his toxic, life-draining farts. The kind, you go "Oh, baby! Stahp! HAHAHA!" when you hear one ripped. But this food brought the toxicity of his gas to the whole new level. It became very quiet but very wet. It is almost like him licking himself in the darkness while you try to fall sleep. When it's dark, It's loud af, and can't unhear it once you hear it because you know there cannot be just one. And it comes with the rotten, noxious, deadly, pungent smell which is wet. You can feel it's WET. During the day, with all the noises that around you, it’s a total surprise attack. Before you know you are ambushed, you are dead. Git rekt. I do not know what is better. Getting ganked in daylight or fear for your life in the darkness, imagining your slow death from suffocation awake or in sleep. Opening the bedroom windows at 2am is something we never did before this food. We live in the Pacific Northwest. It rains a lot here. And opening the windows mean, wet floors, damp house with musty smell. But then, you do what you gotta do.But why I still give this food 5 stars. Because he eats it willingly. His upset stomach was a temporary thing and his #2 has been solid since the explosive transition. He eats this food twice daily without being told to finish it. Previously, he’d eat his food a little, then started wandering the house looking for a cat arse to eat, but this food has his attention till he finishes it. Price is reasonable for what it says it contains or does not contain. And most importantly, even the Feline God approves of this food which I caught in attached photograph. This proves that this product is blessed by the higher authority and we will continue to feed it to our pup. We will learn to live in the environment filled with the toxic gas, and update the reviews in a month or 2 months time when we know if it helps him gain weight or not.

better than homemade
I have been making my own dogs food for 4 years but wanted to find something more convenient. Good dog food used to be $15 to $20 more expensive than this brand is in 2019 (currently $36.99). My home made dog food that I've been feeding my two dogs (20lb boston terrier and 40lb mutt) has been rice, chicken, sweet potato, potassium and sodium salts, brewers yeast and a multivitamin blend as well as powder egg shells for calcium (egg shells contain pure elemental calcium!). This food has nearly the exact same ingredients.I switched them both from my home cooked food to this food overnight, no transition at all. Neither of them had digestive distress at all. Normal well formed stools the very next day, and every day since. It's been 7 days and everything has been a-ok!There are a few advantages to this food as compared to what I used to cook from scratch. This has a better vitamin blend, more balanced macros, and includes a canine specific probiotic. Very nice additions. So in addition to saving me a few hours each week I feel it's providing a better nutrient profile too. Overall it's only about $10 more than cooking it myself but again, it's better quality and it saves many hours of cooking and preparation.I also bought the amazon Solima brand, corn-based food. My plan is to alternate between them every other day. This will lower the cost to even lower than what I was spending on homemade dogfood. Hopefully they accept and tolerate the Solima but I won't be attempting to introduce it for another week or so. In addition to lowering the overall cost of feeding I'm hoping it will introduce some variety they appreciate. Dogs, like humans, can suffer from dietary fatigue which can cause mental health issues. So alternating flavors or brands can help prevent that. It's never been an issue for them before but it provides another possible benefit worth trying.Update: Over a month later and the plan is working perfectly. I alternate this food and the Amazon Solimo food with no issues whatsoever.Transition notes. Someone posted their dog wouldn't accept this food and this is my response. I've been through this a dozen times and would like to share my experience for others:Adding treats was what caused your dogs to not accept this. When you transition food you have to let them get hungry. If they refuse a meal, put the food away and offer it the next day. They will be hungry enough by then to accept it. If you add a treat to the food they will never change foods. They will eat the treat and leave the rest. Like humans, dogs are selective omnivores and can easily, and healthily fast for long periods. I myself have fasted for 21 days with no ill effects. In fact, it's best to fast yourself, and your dogs once a month, at least. Enormous health benefits. But back to the point, offering treats as a bribe when changing foods was your sole problem. That's not how dogs work. My smaller dog is the same as yours in her behavior. Most dogs that eat the same food for a long period are like this. But once she's hungry from not eating for a day she will gladly eat the new food. I've been through this process more than a few times, and it works every time BUT only if you skip treats, biscuits and bones for 2 or 3 weeks while transitioning. It's just a habit and it takes time for them to adjust. Offering the treat makes them believe that they have an option, the treat or their main food. They are surprisingly similar to humans in feeding behavior. If you put salad, rice and beans next to a piece of pizza most humans will eat the pizza and avoid the healthy food. Same with dogs. So NO treats while transitioning. One final point. If you add treats while transitioning and they have a poor bowel movement then you can't be sure what caused it, the treat or the treat interacting somehow with the new food, or both.

Food is Awesome! Amazon packaging is thoughtless and costly to consumers!
I wish I could give different stars to the different entities involved!!! The food is almost the only food my dog likes and is a great value! Five stars for the food! 2 stars to Amazon for shipping arrival on the day they said but package with no foresight. And 1 star to whoever delivered it! More than half of a 40lb bag was lost in shipping and my trying to get the bag out of the box because I couldn't see where it was busted and 40lhs of dog food isn't easy for me to lift at 120lbs and over the hill! The food deserves more stars but I wish I could get it locally. This much loss makes it as expensive as Royal Canin! Amazon, wrap up the package in plastic, not brown paper. Use a box designed to handle 40 lbs at the very least, please. Or, provide a broom, mop, and maid to clean up the mess, plus bug killer for the porch and the exterminator to spray, hand soap, floor cleaner, etc...and I can justify the cost. But, I love my dog and will get him the food he loves and you know I will continue to order so you don't change. Bad business. Think I will ask a local store to see if they will carry his food.

Best Quality vs Price
Canidea up the price and lowered the kcals per cup. This is now the best quality vs value option. A little more protein than I think my border collie needs but she's high energy so it's OK. She had diarrhea for a while over the switch but all good now. Hang in there if so.
