Best purchase for any PS4 Gamer.
I was skeptical about getting a third party controller. However, this is the best controller I have probably ever used. Yes, there are cons, but those aren't detrimental to this review because those cons are advertised with the product. The controller works great, and the assymetrical layout is very fantastic. The touchpad works fine and all of the buttons and joysticks have no flaws. Yes, the instructions are in Japanese, but a simple youtube tutorial can help you wto use the special buttons on it, which I don't really use anyways. The cord is exactly 9.8 feet long, and it is very light due to missing vibration device and battery pack. Again, these are in the description of the controller, and not really issues to me. I am so thankful I bought this controller and it has already made a significant improvement in the amount of fun I have when plahying PS4.

50 bucks. Wired. WORTH IT.
I had been an Xbox gamer for my youth and part of the reason was that I always freaking hated the playstation controller. Nowadays my hands cramp from how tiny it is. The left joystick is uncomfortable and imprecise. The triggers are buttons (alright for shooting, crappy for driving etc.)My gf and I recently opted for a PS4. I was on board but disappointed that I would have to live with the controller. Until I found this! My god it's even better than the microsoft gamepad! It fills the hands, it's comfortable, it's light but feels very sturdy. The triggers are buttons but this is really only a problem for driving sims so it feels very good in normal gaming.Highly recommended!

Okay controller, but not BIFL.
I was so excited to use this controller after getting my first Sony console - I can't stand the Dualshock layout. I overlooked some of the reviews on here about poor build quality because I'm a very casual gamer and figured it would be okay for me. It worked great, for about a year and a half of extremely light use, before the left analog stick started tearing off. It was uncomfortable, but I made do for a few weeks. That is, until it started jamming in a way that made it feel like I was lagging in-game. Had to give up on it today. Don't recommend unless you're okay buying a new one every year.I have Gamecube controllers that have thousands of hours of use and abuse over 15 years that are still in almost perfect condition. This controller saw very little use and no abuse and is rendered useless by the smallest problem. And, of course, there's no way to order replacement parts for it so I have to buy a new one. Needless to say, I won't be buying this one again.

Very reliable though no rumble
Fits in my larger hands a lot more comfortably than anything else I have had.

Just missed the 5th mark.
I owned a Hori FPS controller for the PS3 and when I finally upgraded to PS4, I was incredibly sad that it wasn't compatible with the PS4. A few months in and I started having issues with the dualshock 4 controller. I decided I'd try an adapter to get the PS3 controller I loved so much to work on PS4. It worked for a while, but unfortunately, the PS4 makes controllers jump through so many hoops and I was left wanting for something more consistent.I opened up Amazon and typed in "Hori FPS ps4" and sure enough, there was my answer. The reason why I wanted to preface this with the block of text on top is because I honestly think the PS3 version was better. There were 6 shoulder buttons (2 triggers, 2 standard bumpers, and 2 reprogrammable buttons) and the thumbsticks were on the top of the controller. This was incredibly convenient for me because this made it so that I didn't have to "claw" my controller. It took a bit of getting used to, but after I got the hang of it, I was more efficient at playing shooters-- exactly what it was meant for.Fast forward to ordering and owning the PS4 version for several months, I have to say that I am happy with the new version, not entirely overjoyed, but happy nonetheless. The sticks are positioned the same same way as X Box, and they got rid of the eXtra shoulder buttons. This meant that I had to go back to using the "claw" method. But after gettING used to it (and finding out that you can re-map the "trigger" button), I find myself loving this controller almost as much as its older brother. It's very comfortable in the hands and the lack of rumble motors makes it feel lighter and much more natural for me. You almost can't tell it's there and when you get zoned in, you really feel like the controller is just another part of your body. If I'd never used the PS3 version, I'd probably love this thing to bits and list it as my favorite Playstation controller.Long story short, this controller is an 8/10 for me, a stock DS4 controller being somewhere around 6 or 7.If they brought back the extra shoulder buttons and put the thumbs ticks back up on top, I'd be enthralled. Though it seems like that's just my personal bias speaking, from a purely logical standpoint, your thumbsticks control your movement and aiming-- never should your thumbs leave them in a game that relies on both. With that said, making a controller that forces me to do so when I want to juggle another action at the same time as moving my in game perspective around is very counter-intuitive and makes me think that they really missed an opportunity to innovate here. I'm VERY satisfied with what I got, but I am greedy enough to want more, just because I know they've done it before. Good work on the controller, Hori, but it could've been great.
