Everythign You Need To Know About RaceFace Crank Boots
RaceFace makes three different boot covers for the following cranks types. I did the resarch to make this east for your. Take a few minutes to read this information.NOTE: When ordering these boot covers you will receive the Carbon Crank Boots (size medium). Read on for details.1. NEXT SL G4 CRANK BOOTSThese are built specifically for the Next SL G4 cranks. Also, these crank boot covers have the word “NEXT” printed on them, whereas the other boots only have RaceFace on them.2. CARBON CRANK BOOTS (this is the version you will receive if ordering here). This is the MEDIUM SIZE boot cover. The carbon crank boot covers are compatible with:- Next SL Cinch (G3)- Sixc Cinch- Chester- Respond- Next/Next SL (24mm Spindle)- Sixc (24mm Spindle)- Also, most other popular carbon MTB cranks and assorted alloy DH cranksThe carbon crank boots are sold under the following part numbers based on color selection. The part number will be printed on a sticker affixed to the package you receive so you can verify what you received.A10066GRY = greyA10066BLU = blueA10066RED = redA10066TURQ = turquoiseA10066YEL = yellowA10066GRN = greenA10066PIN = pinkA10066ORA = orangA10066BLK = black3. ALLOY CRANK BOOTThis is the SMALL SIZE boot cover. The alloy crank boot covers are compatible with:- Turbine Cinch- Atlas Cinch- Atlas (24mm Spindle)- Turbine (24mm Spindle)- Aeffect Cinch (175mm length ONLY)- Also, most other popular alloy MTB cranks (except some alloy DH cranksets)The alloy crank boots are sold under the following part numbers based on color selection. The part number will be printed on a sticker affixed to the package you receive so you can verify what you received.- A10068BLK = black- A10068GRY = grey- A10068BLU = blue- A10068RED = red- A10068TURQ = turquoise- A10068362 = website did not specify color- A10068388 = website did not specify color- A10068021 = website did not specify colorReferenceI pulled this information directly from the RaceFace websiteMy ImpressionThis is a semi-hard plastic that will do the job it is intended for.Although, these crank boots did not fit my cranks from this order, I did purchase a pair from another vendor that sold the correct size (small) for my cranks. However, they are all made from the same material, so I am giving five stars for quality of product.I installed the Alloy Crank Boots (size small) on my Stumpjumper which has Aeffect cranks. They fit good. The only thing I noticed is that the hole were you put your Allen key is a little off, but the boot cover is playable enough that I was able to install it with no problem.

Nice crank boot.
Might not fit your cranks! I was looking to find some crank boots to put on my 2021 Turbo Levo SL with Praxis carbon cranks. These boots did not line up with the cranks. However, they did line up with my Sram GX transmission aluminum cranks. Nice thick material, will protect the crank end from scrapes and scuffs.

how to fix for 165mm SRAM Force AXS D1 cranks
These need to be adjusted for shorter Force AXS crank arms because SRAM uses the same outer mold for all lengths and just makes the holes nearer to the spindle to get shorter lengths. For 165mm SRAM Force D1 cranks, you have to modify the smaller hole. First, draw a 0.75" (19mm) diameter circle in pencil on each boot as shown in the pictures. For each boot, use a manual single hole punch to punch open an area a couple millimeters larger than that circle. Then, sand down the edges of the holes with sand paper. Optionally, tape the ends of the cranks with 0.75" electrical tape. Lastly, slide on the crank boot protectors. The hole is sized for Shimano Dura Ace PD-R9100 pedals, so adjust as necessary for other pedal spindles.

Simple but Awesome Protection
The Race Face crank boot protectors are a simple yet superbly effective solution for protecting a mountain bike crank arm from damage. What you get are molded rubber-like covers that are nice and thick, offering protection from scratches and impact that clear-type "skins" cannot match. Installation is as easy as removing your pedals, slipping the boots on, then re-installing your pedals. I have used these on SRAM/Truvative X9 and X0 cranksets and they fit perfectly. Two things to note: first of all, there is no mention of a specific left or right side on the products, and you would assume that all crank arms are identical in shape at the ends, but if the Race Face boots don't wuite slip all the way onto your crank arm, swap the left boot for the right boot and they should be centered and all the way on (I experienced this with both cranks I tested). Second note - upon reading other reviews here, some say they fit other brand/model cranks, some say they don't - but if you take a look at the Race Face website, they actually have a list of what cranks they know are compatible:(from Race Face website)Fits:Race Face:Next/Next SLSixcRespondSram:XXXONoirFSA:GravityGravity LiteShimano:SaintNotice though that my X9 and X0 crankset is not listed - yet they fit perfectly - so if you do not have any of the cranksets listed the only way you can find out is to try them. Not that big of a deal to experiment since it's only $9 a pair, which is a value considering you are protecting your $250-up crankset from rock strikes and damage.

Fits SRAM Red Cranks with Slight Modification
The boot itself is a snug fit for SRAM Red crank tips. However, the spindle holes don’t like up exactly. If you remove a small amount of plastic from the top of the outer hole, you’ll get an excellent fit.The inside hole for the hex driver doesn’t line up perfectly, but it’s close enough that you can get the tool in there if you lightly wedge the plastic to the side. I suppose you could enlarge the hole a bit, but that doesn’t seem necessary.I’m surprised SRAM doesn’t make boots for their road cranks since they are used for gravel, but this is a totally workable solution.

One boot was loose out of the pair. Defective
One boot was tighter than the other. But very good quality. If one boot wasn't defective for me is a solid 5 stars.
