Kidcraft wins again!
I have been pleased with kidcraft products in the past, so when we were looking to purchase a wooden track set for my sons 2nd birthday, I was pleased to find that kidcraft sold them. Not only was this set cheaper than alternative brands, it fits my sons Thomas trains perfectly! The tracks are durable, and they offer the opportunity to learn great skills such as fine motor skill development. My 2 year old has no problem putting the tracks together. The figure 8 set is a great starter set for him. It is bigger than I expected it to be also. In addition to being a great set of tracks, this set also comes with it's own train, as well as other accessories. The train is nice, and the buildings, trees, and little wooden men are fun to add to the scenery and are great for "pretend play." Overall this product is a GREAT value and I can tell the tracks will last for years to come.

Better then expected
I was looking for a basic wood train set. These are easy to latch together and have a cute design for the bridge. The train can fit under the bridge and they feel sturdy. The little plastic trees, buildings and wood people are also adorable. I loved that the front of the box featured a little girl as I got the set for a little girl who was asking for one. I was a little disappointed that neither of the wood people were girls, as that would have made it so much better for her.Quality wood train set!!

Nice simple set for toddlers.
Bought this for my grandson, to keep at my house for when he comes to visit. For the price I paid, it can't be beat. It is a simple figure eight with a little tunnel and a bridge, but comes with quite a few little extra pieces, which he loves. It takes only a few minutes to put together, which is nice because it isn't a big complicated set. The quality is very good. My only complaint would be that on carpet the little people don't stand very well, but other than that I am very pleased.

Good starter track
We got this for my son for his second birthday, and it's been a great starter train track for him. I'll comment on a couple of common notes I saw in other feedback:1) Yes... the magnets repel each other when they're not going the right direction. Magnets do that. You need opposite poles for magnets to attract each other, and if you try to put the two similar poles together, they repel. There may be creative solutions to this issue, but for a relatively inexpensive toy, I don't see it as a major drawback - it's a learning opportunity for kids.Admittedly, when it first happened, I thought this *would* be a major problem. But it took me about 30 seconds to explain it to my 2-year-old, and he understood it right away. Ever since the first couple of times getting upset, he's immediately known to turn one of the train pieces around to get them to stick together. So I think how frustrating this concept is, and for how long, just depends a lot on the child and perhaps where they are on the spectrum of language comprehension at the time, etc. If they have problems understanding it, they will grow into it at some point so it's still worth keeping the toy around.2) Train quality: I certainly wouldn't rate these trains as being top quality, but they're far preferable to plastic. Perhaps some changes have been made since earlier reviews - I'm not sure. But we haven't had issues with the train coming apart just being pulled over the bridge, etc. The magnets are not super-strong, but they're not overly weak either. The trains are lightweight, but this seems fine for a first train set.3) Track quality: I haven't seen a problem with this either. Lightweight? Again, probably so. But I find them quite durable, and have not had problems with them coming apart through just running the trains over them. Again, my two-year-old hasn't had any problems putting the tracks together, or playing with them in such a way that allows them to stay together. If they were harder to get apart, that might be a whole other frustration for the toddler age group.4) Compatibility: My parents bought a wooden Thomas train to go with this track, and it fits fine. They also got another wooden track to add to it (the brand escapes me, but it is also listed as compatible with Brio), and everything seems to fit. Whether various Thomas trains differ in their size, I don't know.Overall, this has been a great toy for us so far, after about a month of use. My son loves it, and enjoys putting the tracks together himself in different configurations, too.

Toddler Approved
My toddler loves this and keeps him entertained for a bit. I love that it’s good old fashion toys and not electronics. There is a small problem with the trains passing under the tunnel where it doesn’t make full clearance. But we “Slow down for the low bridge ahead” and the push the cars through.

perfect for toddlers
This is exactly what I was looking for for our 18 month old. He loves cars and trains. He tears it apart but its easy for me and his 8 yr old sister to put back together for him. All pieces fit fine together I had no problems with this set.

Nice set, weak magnets
I had to add stronger magnets to the train pieces because they kept separating.

Great value
We got this set the day after I ordered it - very fast! My son loves the trains and the trucks, which are a nice addition. The set matches up with our Melissa and Doug train rails. The train cars don't glide along the rails as easily as Melissa and Doug, but for the price, I'm not complaining. We've even gotten the wooden cars wet - bath time - and they're holding up fine. I'll probably order from this brand again.
